Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD. A ceramic head of Mu Guiying(?) with pillbox headdress, scroll detailing to the sidewall and ribbing to the upper face; remains of red and white pigment to the surface; mounted on a custom-made stand. 8.7 kg, 30.5cm including stand (12"). Property of a North London gentleman; acquired on the UK art market before 2000. Mu Guiying is a heroine of Chinese folklore, who proved as able a warrior as any who opposed her. Finely modelled.
A 19th century Chinese tea bowl with figure and scroll decoration, seal mark to base (hairline crack), a blue and white decorated teacup (chip to rim), a hexagonal teapot with figure and poem decoration (lacking lid) and an Oriental inspired miniature bisque teapot Condition:The Chinese teapot is in good conditionThe tea bowl has a hairline crack in the inside middle.The blue and white cup has a chip to the rim and rough spots on the base.The small bisque tea pot has a small chip to the inside rim.
GROUP OF THREE CHINESE PORCELAIN BOWLS to include: Yuan dynasty blue and white wreck salvage bowl, a Song/Yuan style bowl with a hard and bright pale blue Qingbai type glaze and a late Yuan/ealry Ming style bowl decorated with typical floral and classic scroll motifs and a central roundal of stylised flowers. 16.5cm, 13.75cm and 11.25cm approx in size. (3) (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The largest bowl has been seriously damaged and re-glued with extensive old restoration. Minor chips and frits to the other bowls with some firing flaws etc.
TWO CHINESE YUAN STYLE JARLETS to include: a celadon twin lugged jarlet overall with stylised lotus petals and a floral scroll to the shoulder, together with a smaller celadon glazed piece of spherical form. 8cm and 4cm high approx. (2) (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The smaller piece is possibly missing its lotus leaf lid? In general some minor flaws but appearing good overall.
CHINESE PORCELAIN FOOTED BOWL, overall decorated with peony and lotus heads amongst Classical scroll work, in overglazed iron red on a white ground with a white interior. Six character Qian Long underglaze seal mark to base. 16cm diameter.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Rather grubby with glaze blemishes, particularly internally, foot rim appears slightly different colour in places.
Fine Chinese Qing period blue glazed porcelain censer of shallow rectangular form with raised Qianlong seal mark to centre of bowl, two loop handles and moulded archaic decoration raised on splayed legs and waved edged base - complete with carved and pierced wooden cover with carved green jade centre and carved wooden base with scroll feet and bearing old Chinese label. The censer, 26cm wide, 20cm deep, 9cm high (without cover or base). Provenance - removed from a local country house CONDITION REPORT The top- small chip to one corner, larger chip to other corner with old gold lacquer restoration. The bottom- 3 corner chips all with old gold restoration. The wooden lid - chip and break to corner, chip to the other corner and other splits
