A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain bowls, mark of Guangxu but probably late 20th Century, each interior painted with a dragon amongst vapours, the exterior with fruiting branches and vines within a meandering scroll rim, pseudo six character mark of Guangxu in underglaze blue to bases, diameter approx 16.4cm, together with hardwood stands.
A Chinese polished bronze incense burner and cover, mark of Xuande but probably late 19th Century, the cover pierced and cast with a dragon and scrolling vapours, the stout circular body cast with opposing phoenix and dragon, flanked by a pair of dragon handles, on tripod scroll legs, cast six character mark to base, height approx 29.5cm.

A Chinese Famille Rose Purple Ground Dish with blue enamel four characters mark "Kangxi Yu Zhi", late 19th century of saucer shape with a faintly everted rim and a short foot, decorated in Famille Rose enamels with peonies and lotus in centre on a yellow ground within a lobed gilt border, the side with fourteen lotus blooms in pairs on a purple ground, and the rim with a gilt border. The underside with seven enamel peonies on a purple ground, and the foot with a blue enamel scroll design border. The base with a blue enamel four character mark "Kangxi Yu Zhi" (by imperial order of Kangxi) in regular script. This piece is made in the style of the Famille Rose pieces commissioned for the Emperor Kangxi at the beginning of the eighteenth century." A CHINESE SILVER GILT ENAMEL AND FILIGREE SNUFF BOX, the cover with scroll and peach decoration, the inside of the cover inscribed `Taken by General John Hart Dunne from the Summer Palace, Pekin, 1860 and given by him to his uncle the Reverend Richard Hart of Caton, Norwich with whom and his widow Jane Hart it remained until 1897`, 3" across General Dunne is an old Scots Fusilier. He took part in the Crimea and was present with his regiment at the Battle of the Alma. Dunne also saw service in the North China war in 1860, in which he served with the 99th Regiment (now the 2nd Wiltshire) and took part in several engagements including the assault and capture of the Taku forts and the final surrender of Peking. For the China war, he holds the China medal with two clasps
A good Chinese celadon jade carving of two pomegranates, 17th/18th century, issuing from a leafy stem that also bears two flowers, the fruit are split to reveal seeds, the stone with russet markings, 7cm. Split pomegranates represent the rebus Liukai baizi (Pomegranate revealing is one hundred sons). A related group is illustrated in De Bisscop, Chinese Jade and Scroll Paintings from the Dongxi Collection, no.59, p. 102.
An Exceptionally Fine and Rare Chinese Imperial White Jade Teapot and Cover, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period 1736-95, 20cm long, 11.8cm high. Carved from an even white stone with a compressed circular body, a chrysanthemum knop and a slightly flared rectangular section footrim, the C-scroll handle with two grooves which terminate in short scrolls, unmarked, bears two paper exhibition labels. (2) Provenance: Hinton Daniell Stewart (1835-1926) of Strathgarry, Perthshire, and thence by descent. Hinton Stewart went to China as a young man and is believed to have acquired this piece on his return to the UK in the 1880s. He founded the firm of Stewart Thompson and Sons, Manchester cotton merchants. Exhibited: The International Exhibition of 1871, and 1886, on loan by D J Kay. Catalogue note: It is probable that this piece was made towards the end of the Qianlong reign, when large jade boulders of this quality became available. This teapot relates closely to one sold at Sotheby`s in Hong Kong on 31st October 2004, lot 233.
