A 19th century Chinese ginger jar overall painted in underglaze blue with two phoenix amongst floral and scroll sprays, bearing double ring mark to the base, lacking cover, height 23cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a crack to the edge of the rim which might have been caused by a firing imperfection as it doesn't spread any further than the rim. ALso some dirt to the same area and firing imperfections to the base and old ones to the body.
A group of eight Chinese porcelain footed bowls to include four turquoise glazed examples each painted in enamels with various scenes on scroll and floral grounds, the largest 17 x 12cm, also a quatrilobed example on circular base with character seal mark, 13.5 x 13.5cm, and a celadon glazed example painted to interior with carp amongst water plants, with crimped rim, diameter 13cm (8).

A CHINESE SONG-STYLE SCROLL PAINTING AFTER LIN CHUN, LATE QING DYNASTY Depicting a raptor above a rabbit and a melon vine, inscribed in seal script chun xi shu yuan dai zhao lin chun (Lin Chun, Painter in Waiting at the Chunxi Painting Academy), and with seven red seal marks, 137cm x 56cm. The Chunxi reign covers the period 1174-1189 during the Southern Song dynasty. The inscription is not a signature, but rather is intended to identify the source of the composition. Seal script was often used in such circumstances. Lin Chun, a native of Hangzhou, specialised in flower and bird subjects, including a handscroll of plants of the four seasons, dated 1178. Cresswell visited the school in 1980. 134 x 67cm PROVENANCE: Lots 108 - 116, from a private lady collector. Information: The School was founded in 1926 by Sir Cecil Clementi, the 17th British Govenor of Hong Kong, and the 20th Govenor of the Straits Settlements. The School is highly regarded in Hong Kong as one of the most presitgious, and has produced Nobel Prize Winners and notable academics.
