A CHINESE COMMUNIST PROPAGANDA PORCELAIN FIGURE GROUP, CIRCA 1960Sformed as a group of revolutionaries, three in army uniforms, each holding up tools and attributes, such as a Chinese passport, paintbrushes and bucket, loudspeaker and oversize scroll, all against a billowing Communist flag, atop grey rounded base; overall height: 35.5 cm (14 in.)LITERATUREOda k radosti / Ode to Joy (Moscow: Pinakotheke, 2008), p. 511, no. 399 (illustrated) CONDITIONThe group is in overal very good condition. Minor rubbing to the glaze in places (such as at the knee of the woman at the front and the armband of the soldier behind her). Inspection under UV light shows repairs to the feet of the worker at the front, as well as the tip of the paintbrush, previously broken off. N.B. A mid-19th century Chinese export lacquer table cabinet, circa 1860Of rectangular form upon four bracket feet, two hinged doors below a twin scroll and scallop shell pediment. The exterior with gold lacquer scenes of figures with buildings and various floral decorative motifs, edged with Greek key. The interior with five long drawers with pull handles, decorated with floral sprays, the interior of doors with bamboo shoots. Height – 57 cm / 22.5 inchesWidth – 38 cm / 15 inches
An early 19th Century Chinese vase of ovoid form decorated with panels of two women and child, raised on a scrollwork base with shallow domed lid, 13.2 cm high, together with an associated hardwood stand CONDITION REPORTS The lid has several large chips and losses to the enamel all over the finial. The vase itself has two large chips to the rim as well as one area of loss to the scroll work at the base. General wear and tear to include dirt, surface scratching, wear to the enamel, etc. The stand has an area of loss to one section of filigree work and wear and tear conducive with age and use.
