A good quality late 19th century gilt lacquered Chinese sewing box of octagonal form standing on scroll feet having a fitted interior containing ivory cotton winders, needle case and other ivory items - Height 17 cm x Width 28 cm x Depth 17 cm Condition report: Some shrinkage to box top and minor losses to interior
A massive and rare Chinese bronze incense burner, cover and stand, Ming dynasty or later, the pierced cover with Buddhist lion and young finial, swirling clouds interspersed with Buddhist emblems and tree shrews, the basin applied with the Eight Immortals and Shou Lao, with three large mythological creatures clasping the rim between them, all on a ground decorated with archaic style diaper patterns and scrollwork, and further Buddhist emblems, the underside with further diaper patterns, tao t`ieh masks and flaming pearls, the centre with square mark removed, the stand with a similarly decorated ground with cast figures of marine life including crab, prawn and fish on wavy ground, all between archaic scroll borders, the basin and cover with traces of lacquer decoration, areas with restoration and holes commensurate with age and use, 82cm (32in) diameter by 105cm (41in) high overall.
A small Swansea concave sided mug with moulded scroll handle, printed in deep blue with a rather peculiar pseudo Chinese design, c1830, together with a small Swansea flow blue mug and tankard depicting drover with dog and cattle. Condition Report: The Swansea mug has a large chip to the edge rim. Several chips to the rim and signs of old restoration, crazed and stained. Further crack from the rim running down the mug approx 3".
A pair of Chinese blue and white covered vases 20th century, ovoid in form with foliate and chrysanthemum decoration, later applied shoulder to base cast bronze winged angel handles, removable cast bronze scrollwork collar, dome cover with squat finial, seated upon a circular cast bronze base with shell and joined opposable `C` scroll feet, 20in. A Chinese carved rosewood altar table late 19th / early 20th century, the oblong cleated top with downturned scroll ends with pierced wufu and cloud decoration, terminating in stylised cloud mounts, over a pierced lattice frieze, on moulded shaped supports terminating in ruyi carved feet, 46¼in. (117.5cm.) long, 16¼in. (41.25cm.) deep, 32in. (81.25cm.) high.
A Chinese carved rosewood and burr elm altar table early 20th century, the oblong, cleated top with three inset burr elm panels, the scroll ends with carved blind key fret decoration, over a pierced and carved lattice frieze centred by a roundel, on carved shaped supports with carved tied ribbon decoration to the feet, 45¾in. (116cm.) long, 15¾in. (40cm.) deep, 32¼in. (82cm.) high.
A pair of large Chinese dark blue ground famille rose jars and covers iron red printed Guangxu (1875-1908) marks and of the period, of globular form, decorated in enamels with alternate panels of insects and birds around floral sprays and figures on a fenced terrace, the dark blue ground with pale green and gilt floral scroll decoration, the rim and foot with a floral diaper band, the domed covers with gilded spire finials, 10in. A collection of Chinese porcelain to include a small blue and white bowl, a sang de boeuf bowl, blue and white tea bowls, a bowl with fluted rim decorated in the Imari palette, plates decorated in the Imari palette, etc CONDITION REPORTS A small blue and white bowl with scroll type marking to underside. Has quite a lot of chips and cracks. The sang de boeuf bowl with some minor chips to foot rim and scuffs throughout but otherwise appears sound. Other items with some hairline cracks and chips, etc.
