One on original metal roller approximately 21 feet in length in very good condition, one on a wooden roller (has seen better days), one loosely rolled in very good condition. Many destinations on each, the majority appear to be Western Region, particularly the Midlands but some Welsh. (3 items)
William Tickle of Newcastle - late 18th century 8-day mahogany longcase, with a swans neck pediment and silk backed frets beneath, brass paterie and a ball and eagle finial, break arch hood door flanked by reeded pilasters with brass capitals, long wavy toped trunk door and conforming recessed quarter columns to the trunk, square plinth with applied moulding and skirting, painted moon roller dial with gesso spandrels, Roman numerals and five-minute Arabic's, seconds dial and calendar aperture, steel hands and seconds pointer, gong striking movement with recoil anchor escapement and rack striking on the hour. Alexander Frazer of Comber - late 18th century Irish mahogany 8-day longcase with a painted dial and moon roller to the arch c1790, swans neck pediment with carved paterie and turned finial, break arch hood door with reeded pilasters and wooden capitals, trunk with conforming recessed quarter columns and a wavy topped door, plinth with canted corners raised on bracket feet, painted dial with floral spandrels within a gesso border and birds of paradise to the centre, Roman numerals and five minute Arabic's, minute band and steel hands, with a seconds dial and date aperture, dial pinned via a false plate to a rack striking movement with a reoil anchor escapement. John Smith of Chester - late 18th century mahogany 8-day longcase, brass moon roller dial and three-train movement, with a swans necked pediment, brass paterie and an inlaid oval to the centre, hood door with contrasting banding and scalloped edge, shaped back splats and reeded pilasters with Corinthian capitals, trunk with canted corners, wavy topped door with conforming banding and inlay, square plinth with an applied decorative base, brass dial with scroll spandrels, diagonally engraved dial centre, wide chapter ring with Roman numerals, five minute Arabic's and minute dots, seconds dial, date aperture and steel hands, makers name boldly engraved round the arch of the dial, rack striking movement with a recoil anchor escapement, striking the hours on one bell and the quarters on four. With three brass cased weights, pendulum and key. Phillips of Bromyard - 8-day mahogany longcase with a painted moon roller dial, c 1790,swans neck pediment with dog tooth moulding, raised carving and brass paterie, break arch hood door beneath flanked by reeded pilasters with brass Corinthian capitals, trunk with a blind fret, reeded quarter columns and long wavy topped door,Plinth with a deep moulding and canted corners raised on a shaped base, painted dial with gesso spandrels, Roman numerals, five minute Arabic's and minute dots, with steel hands, seconds dial and square date aperture, dial pinned to a rack striking movement with an anchor escapement, striking the hours on a cast bell. A clockmaker by the name of John Phillips is recorded as working in Bromyard (Worcs) in the early to mid 18th century, certainly by 1770-90. W. Cylinder bores 1. 3/8in and 2in with 2inch stroke solid flywheel drain cocks with associated pipework Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds. Pickering type governor and whistle. Chassis detail include spoked straked wheels with rubber road tyres, fitted worm and roller chain steering, cable drum with fairleads, hand brake, water lifter, belly tanks with applied Fowler cast brass crests. The model finished in red black and cream paintwork with brass mounts and brass olivers supporting canopy sign written 'K.M.Markie's Amusements Northampton' and removable driving panels to top. The model comes with firing shovel, steam raiser and also drawings 108cm long Together with a sit-upon driving truck which carries another water tank, approximately 100cm long Boiler history: Past boiler certificate issues by Northampton Society of Model Engineers.
