Matched pair of Flintlock duelling pistols by Wogdon and Barton London, with 28 bore 10 inch octagonal barrels fitted with silver front sight and plain rear sight, the locks with roller frizzens and safely catches, pineapple finial trigger guards, ramrods with worm ends and screw off tops to accept cleaning jags, fitted into a period case complete with oil bottle, powder flask, bullet mould, cleaning rod with two brushes, jag, and ball grasp and mainspring clamp.Section 58(2) Antique /obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence.Condition report: Both pistols have working actions, however the safety catch on one pistol is seized and will not move whereas the other pistol safety catch engages correctly. Both guns have cracked through the stocks around the lock and side nail areas and have been reglued. The repairs have been carried out in two different manners, one of which has used small pins of wood to strengthen the joins. Both have repairs to the fore ends one with two restuck cracks, one with a small spliced piece. There are touches of re-browning to the locks and barrels in small places, The engraving looks like it could have been refreshed and the browning applied and aged in at the same point.The guns look like they have been left unattended for quite some time and there is fresh corrosion underneath the barrels which would easily clean off.The case has damages to three of the corners, two of which are chipped, one has been restuck. There are a lot of scuffs and marks generally.

The glue appears to be secure but we recommend attention/re-setting of the stone by a professional setter. One claw to that stone probably needs re-tipping,Silver tarnished.The end sprig which the roller catch is soldered to the back of appears a little bent, so the roller catch is at a slight angle and hence pin does not move easily in and out of the roller catch.

Comprises a jacks / knucklebones game, dice, ivory counters, box wood dice roller, bone and ebony dominos, various coloured counters, draughts and chess set (contents unchecked for completeness). The box originally having a central opening mechanism using the ships wheel however is now inert. An unusual antique set.
