A scarce Volunteer officer’s .65" Baker type flintlock rifle, by Fenton, London, 46½” overall, octagonal twist barrel 30¼” with London proofs, engraved “R Fenton-London” and with 2 folding leaf rearsights, the breech plug with silver line and maker’s poincon, muzzle with bayonet bar on the right side, flat stepped lock with safety bolt, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring, plate engraved with small floral bouquets, sunburst and “Fenton”, walnut fullstock with chequered wrist, cheekpiece and engraved brass mounts including butt trap cover with fern tip border and trophy of arms, facetted butt plate tang, and square back trigger guard, with metal socket behind the breech tang for free standing aperture sight, sling swivels and a brass mounted wooden ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition (light pitting to barrel, traces of repaired fracture to stock, small spliced repairs to fore end with replacement fore end cap). Plate 59

Mortimer, c 1810, 14” overall, flat topped round twist barrel 9” engraved “London” in script, stepped signed lock with French style cock, safety bolt, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring, plate engraved with fern tip border and floral bouquet, walnut fullstock with rounded chequered butt, vacant oval escutcheon, steel trigger guard engraved with trophy and with pineapple/urn finial, and brass tipped ramrod. Bond, London, c 1820, 30” overall, bell mouth barrel 14” with octagonal breech engraved “London”, and with 12½” bayonet released by thumb catch on the barrel tang; the signed stepped lock having safety bolt, swan neck cock and roller on frizzen spring; walnut fullstock having chequered wrist and brass mounts including plain military style trigger guard; the steel tipped ebony ramrod an old replacement. An unusual late 18th century central European 12 bore flintlock sporting rifle with left hand lock, 55½” overall, 2 stage barrel 41” secured by 3 flat wedges, the octagonal breech stamped with crowned shield mark on the top flat, partly obscured maker’s mark on right side, and with single standing rearsight; plain rounded lock having swan neck cock and roller on frizzen spring; plain walnut fullstock having no provision for ramrod, fore end being of flat 5 sided section with horn fore end cap, flat sided butt with cheek piece and velvet pad; bronze mounts comprise long trigger guard with spurred grip, housing double set triggers, shaped flat sideplate and butt plate with scalloped side pieces, all decorated with engraved lines and trophies of arms; the stock also inset with silver wire initials “T.B” behind the breech tang. *A circa 1898 Gormully & Jeffery Mfg. Co., gentleman's 'American Rambler' bicycle, possessing a 24-inch frame, 28-inch wheels, a large inch pitch 'cupped' chain wheel, American back-pedalling rear hub brake, up-turned 18-inch handlebars with patented cork grips and a Lucas roller bell, the delightfully decorative and linear lugs are peculiar to this maker, it comes with a leather saddle and saddle bag. A good refurbishment project (1)
*A 1955 Raleigh gentleman's roadster of Indian manufacture, a 22-inch frame with 28-inch Westwood rims and tyres, stirrup brakes operated by roller levers, semi-up-turned handlebars with rubber grips, rear luggage rack, deep set mudguards, single speed This machine was manufactured at the time that the Indian Raleigh Factory was being created, and came to the Raleigh factory in Nottingham for a quality assessment. It remained in the Raleigh offices until purchased and restored by a Raleigh Design Engineer. (1)
*A 1925 Humber Co. Ltd., gentleman's 'Olympia' roadster. Restored in 2000, the remains of the finish allowed the correct red box lining and finish to be established, the bicycle comes with a Sturmey Archer three-speed hub, 25-inch frame, figured celluloid covered handlebars, stirrup brakes with roller lever controls, Humber chain wheel, block rubber pedals, mounting step, a modern leather saddle of the mid-1920s style, deep set mudguards and a prop stand is fitted (1)
*A 1912 Centaur Featherweight Gentleman's Bicycle. Restored to a very high standard about 22-years ago, and little used since, the 26-inch frame is numbered 160240 and possesses a delightful black enamel finish with gilt box lining, good old-style nickel-plating, deep-set mudguards and a modern but period-looking light brown Brooks B10 saddle. Other features include an Armstrong 3-speed hub gear with its correct handlebar mounted control, roller levers operating stirrup brakes back and front, rat trap pedals and a small chain wheel fitted as standard. No pump is fitted This bicycle comes with two typed documents outlining the detailed work carried out in 1994, and a typed postcard from the late Alan Hawkes, one-time Centaur marque enthusiast. (2)
*A circa 1900 'Columbia', very rare gentleman's light roadster by The Pope Mfg. Co., having a 22-inch frame with a leaf spring front fork, with fulcrums at the bottom of the fork stays, the dual-roller inch-pitch chain and sprockets are in good condition, and drive a New Departure back-pedalling brake hub, and front hub, favoured devices offered by Columbia from 1898, one-piece 7 1/2-inch cranks with rat trap pedals are fitted and retain their original nickel-plating, the deep-set hickory 'scorching' handlebars, again favoured by Columbia at this time to special order, possess long black grips, the saddle is an early competition accessory with a brown leather top, a frame-mounted tool bag is fitted. A good original bicycle with wooden rims and cream 28-inch tyres. Please also see lot 526 (1)
*An Anzile of Marseille gentleman's light roadster with a brown-painted 22-inch frame, 26-inch tangent spoked wooden wheels, side-pull 'The Handsome' calliper brakes back and front, operated by Bowden cable, low profile 18-inch scorching handlebars, leather saddle, a French chain set to include double-roller inch-pitch chain and a single speed coaster hub (1)
*A 1921 Raleigh 'Special' Model B Roadster. With a 24-inch frame numbered 633919, a nicely restored bicycle with box lining and correct style decals, black enamelled chain-case and handlebars, with latter with roller brake levers operating period stirrup brakes on 28-inch Westwood rims, also fitted is a period rear rack, a Lucas bell, a Brooks (OO) badged leather saddle a 1908 period Lucas 'Holophote' and a Powell and Hanmer rear oil-powered lamps. A K-type gear hub and brass pump and block rubber pedals complete the ensemble. In fine, rideable condition (1)

A 'Model D' from the Ohio Manufacturer circa 1900 with a 22-inch frame, open top forks, 26-inch wooden wheels with tyres, petit leather saddle, single speed coaster hub, dual-roller inch-pitch chain and chain wheel and 6-inch cranks and block rubber pedals. The makers badge is fitted to the headstock, and it comes with 23-inch hickory handlebars with cork grips (1)
*A Stearns & Co., of Syracuse USA, a loop frame 'Model Special' ladies bicycle having a 23-inch frame, cottered bottom bracket, dual-roller inch-pitch chain and chain wheel and 6-inch cranks and block rat trap pedals, (not fitted), a coasting rear hub, open fork crown, blind end forks, nickel-plated semi-up turned handlebars with good period grips and a small bell. A Christy type saddle with original padding but miss its leather top, a rear painted wooden mudguard and cushion rubber tyres. Currently painted orange, an easy refurbishment project (1)
*1907 Francaise D'Armes of St Etienne 'Hirondelle', gentleman's Path Racer, with a 26-inch light blue-finished frame, 28-inch black-enamelled rims with good pneumatic tyres, a dual-roller inch-pitch chain and chain wheel with 7-inch cranks and rubber insert rat trap pedals with toe clips fitted, driving a free wheel hub with back-pedalling brake. A plunger brake to the front wheel. The nickel-plated dropped handlebars have turned wooden grips, other features include a leather frame bag and a period style saddle and a 1907 plate and headstock badge on the headstock (1)
