Pair of London Tram ROUTE NUMBER STENCIL PLATES, the first for all-night route 5 which ran from Blackfriars to Downham from 1946-52, the wide type of plate (26.5" x 8.5" - 67cm x 22cm) fitted to some E1 & HR2 trams, and the second for route 38 from Abbey Wood to Embankment, the type (22" x 15" - 56cm x 39cm) that was fitted at each end of those standard cars which had not been fitted with roller blinds. An early Lesney Aveling Barford Diesel Road Roller in unusual colours - red body, blue back roller wheels, bare metal front roller, no canopy, unboxed, a milk cart with orange body and driver, unboxed, a collection of unboxed small diecasts, including Matchbox MB19 MG Midget, MoY Y7 W&R Jacobs Van and Schuco Piccolo Atmos and other early diecasts.
A pair of 18 bore flintlock holster pistols, c 1810, 13½” overall, octagonal twist barrels 8” with gold touch holes; flat stepped locks signed “Hartshorn” in script, with safety bolts, swan neck cocks, rainproof pans and roller on frizzen springs; dark walnut fullstocks with deeply chequered rounded butts and shield shaped silver escutcheons; the steel mounts include flower engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials enclosing single set triggers, and with original horn tipped ramrods with steel worm. GWO & generally quite crisp condition, the trigger guards retaining hints of original blued finish (some light bruising to stocks). A nice untouched pair of pistols. Plate 15
A 20 bore flintlock coaching carbine by Wallace, c 1785, 37” overall, barrel 22”, with break off breech; signed lock with swan neck cock, raised pan, and large roller on the frizzen spring; walnut fullstock with skeleton butt and oval silver escutcheon, the fore end slightly shortened and replaced by a brass fore end cap; brass mounts including engraved trigger guard and butt plate tang and with original steel ramrod; with contemporary steel reinforcing band around the wrist and brass plate beneath the butt. GWO & C (slightly worn overall with light pitting). Plate 13

A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss with spring bayonet by Rea & Son, c 1800, 29½” overall, swamped barrel 13½” with London proofs, engraved “Minories, London” in panel, and with 12½” spring bayonet released by thumb catch on breech tang; signed plain flat stepped lock with safety bolt and roller on frizzen spring; plain walnut fullstock, the sparsely engraved brass mounts include trigger guard with acorn finial, and flat sideplate, and with wooden ramrod having pale horn tip and iron worm. GWO & C, good age patina to lock. Plate 9 and front cover.

An interesting early 19th century Customs officer’s 24 bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistol, by Barnett, 13¾” overall, half octagonal barrel 8” secured by flat barrel wedges, the breech having London proofs and engraved “Customs”; plain signed lock with roller on frizzen spring; walnut fullstock with rounded butt and brass mounts including domed butt cap and flower engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial. GWO & C (some light pitting to lock, stock chipped above lock). Note: Several branches of the Barnett family were makers to the ordnance, East India Company, Hudson Bay Company, etc. Plate 6

GWO & C (the stock and mounts sympathetically refinished, traces of stock fracture below the lock, ramrod replaced). Plate 15

A late 18th century 24 bore brass barrelled flintlock travelling pistol, by Bennett, 10” overall, 2 stage barrel 5”, the octagonal breech with London and maker’s proofs and engraved “Bennett. Royal/Exchange London”, brass stepped lock signed in oval panel and with roller on the frizzen spring; walnut fullstock with flat sided butt, the plain brass mounts include trigger guard with acorn finial. GWO & C, with pleasing age patina (ramrod replaced, the cock probably a contemporary replacement). Plate 3
