A large tapestry panel, embroidered with the seasons and months of the year and inscribed in Latin, decorated to the centre with Christ, approx 207 x 192cm. Condition Report: condition good-no holes or moth seen. attached to a round roller at top to facilitate hanging and rolling. age is probably 2nd half of the 20c but cannot be sure.
France1849, 1fr. dark carmine, tête-bêche contained in strip of three including the inverted cliché in centre, this coming from position 35 in the first plate, exceedingly fresh impression and rich colour, slightly cut into at base, otherwise clear to ample margins, paying the double rate to Argentina with carriage of British steamer, on 7 December 1852 cover to Buenos Aires, tied by lozenge roller cancel with Paris dispatch c.d.s. at right, red "Paid" c.d.s. in centre alongside, and Calais transit on back. Imperfection in bottom left corner and slight vertical crease through adhesive at left; vertical slit on front and part of back of cover. Despite imperfections, a very rare usage with only ten covers recorded bearing the 1fr. carmine tête-bêche in either pair or a larger multiple. Certs. Brun and Calves. Maury T6; € 80,000. Photo
France1860, 80c. rose, "back to back" tête-bêche pair, very fresh with margins ranging from clear to outstandingly large in places, showing part of an adjoining adhesive at right, cancelled by the "pointillé fin" mute roller cancel.
