A composite brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss, 32¾” overall, bell mouth barrel 15¾” with B’ham proofs, the top flat engraved at a later date “T Archer, Birmingham”, flat stepped trade quality lock with pigeon breasted cock and roller on frizzen spring, with later stock and brass mounts, apart from the buttplate which is late 18th century, horn tipped wooden ramrod. An SB 12 bore flintlock fowling piece by Tayler & Co, c 1785, 50½” overall, 2 stage barrel 35½” with Tower private proofs, flat stepped lock engraved with maker’s name and simple flower head to tail, walnut halfstock with horn fore end cap, chequered wrist, and silver wire inlay around barrel tang, brass mounts including engraved butt plate tang, sideplate and oval escutcheon with initials, the trigger guard with acorn finial, brass tipped wooden ramrod with worm. WO & GC (roller missing from frizzen spring, barrel moderately pitted overall, some age wear). Plate 10
