A WORKSPLATE "Henschel & Sohn, Kassel, Germany 1957 Beyer-Garratt Locomotive....South African Patent.....Built Under Licence From Beyer Peacock & Co. Ltd Manchester England". As carried by the South African Railways 3'6" gauge Class GMAM 4.8.2+2.8.4. No.4156 built by Henschel as Works No.29615 in 1956. A post-war light axle-load design of high power for general use. It had a cast steel chassis and roller bearings. They were in SAR service until the mid-1980's but many were transferred to industrial use. Many survive, but not this one. Oval cast brass, 131/2"x63/4", face-polished and repainted only.

Finely engineered 2 inch scale model of an Agricultural Engine, scratch built and based on a Clayton and Shuttleworth engine built by the late Ted Hopkinson and his son of James Hopkinson and Sons, Agricultural Engineers of Newark. The engine has a brazed copper boiler with thirty-two tubes and fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, water lifter, clack and blowdown valves. Engine details including twin high pressure cylinders 1 1/8 inch bores, drain cocks and pipes, twin ratchet mechanical lubricators, crosshead guides, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds, solid flywheel, other details include spoked straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, cable drum, fairleads, hand brake, wooden foot board with steps, finished in green and red paintwork, 39 inches and 15 1/2 inches (99cm x 39cm), Collection of stainless steel tools, shovel, bottle jacks and strakes. Complete with glazed case on polished mahogany stand.
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY FLINTLOCK PISTOL, of European manufacture with Turkish influence, steel round barrel with octagonal breech, lock with rain proof pan and roller frizzen, heavy cast white metal butt cap, trigger guard, sideplate and ram rodpipes, the entire stock covered with silver vine and leaf inlay work, slight rusting, (cock missing, some inlay absent), barrel length 28cm (11'), overall length 42cm (16 1/2")

Kirkby and having moon roller to arch and 30-hour movement. 6ft 10" high.

Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, 2 road speeds and spoked flywheel, Pickering type governor, chassis details include spoked straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads, water lifter, hand brake to second shaft, wooden footboard with tool box under, padlock, spark arrester, bucket, coal shovel and stoking poker, finished in maroon with yellow and red lining. 16 1/2 x 26 inches (42cm x 66cm), complete with glazed display cabinet, bronze medal and certificate.
4 1/2 inch scale Burrell single cylinder agricultural engine, with steel boiler last tested 27/02/1999 to 110 psi SFMES certificate No.2035. The engine constructed from Plastow castings and drawings. Boilers fittings including water gauge, glass missing, shut-off cocks, pressure gauge, blower, injector, whistle, water lifter and clack valves, mud door and drain plug. Engine details include single cylinder 3 1/4 inch bore x 3 3/4 inch stroke, footplate controlled draincocks and pipework, ratchet operated lubricator, shut off valve, bar type crosshead guides, valve spindle guide Stephenson's link reverse, 2 road speeds mounted outside the horn plates, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, belt driven Pickering-type govenor and unusual solid flywheel, wick-type lubricator boxes and oil pots to bearings. Chassis detail including worm and roller chain steering spoked straked wheels with brass hubcaps, rubber tyres fitted for road use, footplate-controlled damper, band brake and 2 wheeled driving trolley. Finished in red and black paintwork with polished steel and chromed finishings.
