A Staffordshire creamware `Collier` Toby jug c.1790, seated and holding a foaming jug, his face and hands painted in distinctive washes of dark brown, wearing a dark blue suit over a green waistcoat, the chamfered base moulded with a border of flowerheads and glazed in dark green, an upright barrel between his feet, 25.5cm. `Collier` Toby jugs, so-called because of their coal-covered features, are usually accompanied by this distinctive moulded base. Provenance: from the Phil Medgett Collection of Toby Jugs.

A Circa 1950`s Blue Pin Striped Suit Possibly Belonging to Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977), bearing the stamps inside of Shepperton Studios, United Artists and Warner Bros, with `Baby Face lot` and another text (indistinctly hand written) which possibly says `Chaplin` to one of the labels, together with white braces, burgundy silk scarf stamped United Artists and original receipt from Frasers Postal Auctions dated 23/11/99, lot 35925 Charlie Chaplin sold for hammer price £450. Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE was an iconic figure of the silent-film and this year we celebrate 100 years since the creation of his most famous character `The Tramp`. From circa 1910 he was based in America where his career blossomed. In 1919 with three fellow actors Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D W Griffith the United Artists Film Production group was formed. Some of these film were filled at Shepperton Studios between 1930 and 1950. Due to his allegedly outspoken views on political matters her was deported from the US in 1952 and moved to Vevey in Switzerland, where he died in 1977.

MADONNA / EVITA - Tailored suit (2 pc) in black and white tweed, styled on a late 1940's/ early 50's Dior design, comprising double breasted fitted jacket with concealed hook and eye fasteners and padded hips, black velvet collar and lapels with black braid trim, fastening with 6 x twisted black velvet buttons, lined in black satin, labelled inside Madonna, with full circular skirt designed by Penny Rose and made for Madonna as Eva Perón in the 1996 film Evita. Provenance: bought by the current vendor as lot 108 Christies sale 25th May 2006.
