An 18th century portrait miniature of a seated gentleman in a red velvet suit beside his desk, wearing a white wig, reputedly of Justin Vulliamy (1712-1797) English clockmaker, oil on board, in a gilt composition frame, moulded with lyre and anthemion motifs, 14 by 10cm, framed size 25 by 21cm. Provenance: by direct descent from the sitter.

LUIGI PASQUALE (1822-1894); an important late 19th century Italian cylinder bureau, the castellated superstructure inlaid with a knight within a tent above a finely detailed door inlaid with the monument erected at Sagliano and inscribed 'Sulle ceneri degli eroi si eleva la grandezza delle nazioni' flanked by mirrored backs, side inlaid panels and exquisite inlaid roll top with two cornucopia full of shields and various fighting implements and a suit of armour and enclosing a slide and satin birch fitted interior with frieze drawer similarly inlaid, raised on ring turned tapering legs to peg feet, bearing Luigi Pasquale original paper label to the reverse. The piece is also signed by Pasquale in the inlaid detail and also inscribed 'Ricordo sagliano 1880 Pietro Micca', width 87cm, height 167cm, depth 59cm.Pietro Micca was a hero of the city of Turin when in 1706 he sacrificed his own life for the good of the city in blowing up a tunnel with French soldiers about to attack. The quality of the inlay throughout is exceptional. Featured in 'Storie Di Minusiere Biellesi E Di Cadregat Di Cossila' page 180-183 with full detail of the cabinet and illustrations relating to it.Luigi Pasquale was the vendor's great, great grandfather and this lot has been in the family since its creation in 1880.
WW2 Japanese Winter Flight Suit, being dark brown one piece example with large rabbit fur collar and fur lined interior. Half front zip with concealed button crutch. Fur lined knee pockets and fittings for the waist belt. Rear pocket and zip. Good clear Japanese military issue markings to the inside of the suit. Remains in generally good condition.

BIRD KENNETH: (1887-1965) English Cartoonist, known as Fougasse. An original pen and ink drawing signed and inscribed by Bird, one page, 8vo, London, 1st March 1945, on the printed stationery of Punch.The artist has drawn a cartoon depicting a junior artist preparing to start a cartoon, with a large 'L' learner plate pinned to the back of his suit. CERNAN GENE: (1934-2017) American Astronaut, Commander of Apollo XVII (1972). Signed portion of the title page from the book The Last Man on the Moon. Signed by Cernan in bold black ink to a clear area of the page, adding 'Best wishes from the moon' above his signature and dated December 2008 in his hand. Matted in black beside a colour 6½ x 8½ photograph depicting Cernan seated in half-length pose and wearing his space suit. Framed and glazed in a black frame to an overall size of 18 x 14. EX
DEMPSEY JACK: (1895-1983) American Boxer, World Heavyweight Champion 1919-26. A good vintage signed and inscribed sepia 9 x 13 photograph, the image depicting Dempsey in a head and shoulders pose wearing a smart dinner suit and a homburg hat. Signed in bold black fountain pen ink to the image and dated 4th July 1925 in his hand, whilst Heavyweight Champion. Matted in cream and framed and glazed in a narrow wooden frame to an overall size of 19 x 15. Some light age toning to the image, and minor silvering to the upper half, and with a tear to the left edge, not affecting the signature. G
