Zoe Anker Connections, 2023 Multi Layered, paper stencil screenprint with hand embossing Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Zoe Anker studied MA Design for Textiles Future at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, London; graduating in 2004. Since that time she worked within the fashion Industry, before returning to her passion for printmaking full time. Silkscreen printing has always been Zoe's medium of choice, whether that be art pieces on paper or fashion fabrics. Zoe has a strong passion for the juxtaposition of colour, geometric shape and mark making, with the use of layers to create interesting and unique forms. Zoe is currently based at Wimbledon Art Studios, London. Where she has held a studio for over four years. Zoe is very much a "process" led artist and loves to work in a playful and free manner. "The process always influences the outcome of my work- I would say I am very impulsive, free and playful. I use mainly paper stencils within my art work, I love the freedom working this way and having the ability to evolve shapes and layers at a rapid pace." Zoe rarely produces a full edition of work and prefers to work with one off pieces. Often a small mini range on various scales. This "capsule collection" type of process and body of work is a nod towards her Fashion Industry background. Zoe draws inspiration from pop culture, travel, nature and brutal architecture. Education MA Design for Textiles Futures, Central St.Martins, London. 2004. BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles, University College Northampton. 2002 Select Exhibitions/Awards Debut Solo show "Electric Bloom" at BSMT Space gallery, Dalston, London. May 2020 "Who runs the world?" December 2022 "The Other Art Fair" Santa Monica, Los Angeles, March/April 2023 Gallery Representation BSMT Space Electric Gallery Look up Prints Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork Inspired by brutal architecture in terms of shape, composition and form, and looking at the relationship between architecture and pattern. This one off pieces originate from a multi layered hand pulled screen print, using hand stencil cut stencils. Sections have also been hand embossed. You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.

Leibovitz Collection, Connecticut.Private collection, US, UK and Greece (by descent from the above in 1992).Thence by descent to the present owner. The present work by Andy Warhol was originally part of the collection of Dr. Maury Leibovitz. As the Vice-Chairman and President of Knoedler-Modarco, as well as close associate of billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Dr. Armand Hammer, owner and founder of Hammer Galleries, Leibovitz was a prominent figure in the New York art world in the 1970-1990s.In his role as head of one of the USA's oldest and most established galleries, Leibovitz was well-placed in the blossoming New York art scene to meet and integrate with some of the biggest names of the time, including the likes of Andy Warhol, from whom it is probable that the present work was acquired. Despite this significant role in the contemporary market, his eclectic personal collection of art was very broad; it spanned the centuries and included works by the Old Masters, Impressionists, Modern European artists such as Salvador Dalí. His legacy in the New York art world remains to this day, having gifted a number of works to various institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery and the New York Historical Society Museum and Library. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ** VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
