The Beatles. A fully signed world premiere ticket for 'A Hard Day's Night' on Monday, 6th July 1964. Obtained by the vendor's father who worked as a chef at The Dorchester where an after party was held following the screening of the film. The following is provenance provided to us by the vendor. 'The Royal World Premiere of 'A Hard Day's Night' was held at 'The Royal Pavilion Theatre' Picadilly, London on Monday 6th July 1964. Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden attended. Afterwards, a champagne supper dinner was held at ' The Dorchester Hotel' Park Lane, London. My father, Mr. Brian Howitt, was a senior chef on duty that night at 'The Dorchester Hotel' and he asked one of the waiting staff to obtain 'The Beatles' autographs on his behalf. All four signed the reverse side of the ticket. The ticket has been in my possession since that date.' Please note that we are not experts in this field and we do not accept responsibility should these signatures prove to be anything other than genuine. The first title, an authorised English translation edited by Harry Collison was first published in 2 volumes in 1918. The Rudolf Steiner Archive does not appear to have a copy of this book. The second title bears the signature of the theosophist David Clement who purchased Broome Farm in Clent in 1933 and offered it to Sunfield for student land training. It exists today as Sunfield Independent Specialist School and children's home. A later edition was published in 1945 by the Rudolf Steiner Publishing Co., in conjunction with the Anthroposophic Press New York.Harry Collison (1868-1945) worked as a publisher and translator. From 1913 Steiner delegated the task of coordinating the translations to him, as well as arranging their publication. He also vested the English language copyright in him contractually, thus granting him authority for publication not only in Britain, but also in America and the rest of the English-speaking world.

Enlarged edition of contemporary printed documents relating to the English Civil War, first published the previous year.The contemporary signature on the title page is possibly that of Walter Yonge (1579-1649) of Great House, Colyton, Devon, who was a lawyer, merchant and diarist. He was the eldest son of the eminent Elizabethan merchant John Yonge (d. 1612) of Colyton and his wife Alice Stere. Yonge was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, and called to the bar from Middle Temple. In 1628 he took the office of Sheriff of Devon. He invested in the Dorchester Company, a joint-stock company which promoted fishing and colonisation in New England. He was a Member of Parliament for Honiton, Devon, in the Long Parliament from 1640, but did not sit after Pride's Purge in December 1648. Yonge was one of the victuallers of the Navy from 1642 to 1648. Walter Yonge lived at the Great House and wrote much of his well-known diary there (1604-1628), later published by the Camden Society in 1848.

First edition, 8vo, xvi 320 pp., original diagonal-fine-ribbed maroon moiré cloth, title gilt to spine within geometric panel, engraved title-page incorporating medallion portrait of Roger Bacon, advertisement leaf to rear, bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, shallow loss to head and foot of spine, front joint cracked and front board remaining attached to spine by single cord, rear joint cracked but remaining firm, corners worn, covers slightly faded and with a few marks, old ink-stain and a few spots to title-page, dedication leaf with upper outer corner excised (leaving contemporary ownership inscription ‘Hannah Tayler’ below) [Hook & Norman, Origins of Cyberspace, 42] Uncommon first edition of the author's most successful work. ‘Economy was a product of a conscientious and detailed survey of factories and workshops in England and on the continent prompted by the demands for precision in the construction of his first calculating engine. The work is not a thesis on macroeconomic theory but an encyclopaedic record of craft, manufacturing, and industrial processes, as well as an analysis of the domestic organization of factories. He advocated the decimalization of currency, foresaw the role of tidal power as an energy source, and predicted the exhaustion of coal reserves, later commenting that if posterity failed to find a substitute for coal then it deserved to be frostbitten. Economy was a turning point in economic writing and firmly established Babbage as a leading authority of the industrial movement’ (ODNB).
