The 3.5 inch silvered Roman dial with subsidiary power reserve dial at XII over an observatory style seconds at VI numbered 793 with blued steel and gold hands. The spotted movement with four ringed pillars and maintaining power to the chain fusee, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with diamond endstone and Earnshaw type detent escapement, cut and compensated bimetallic balance with keystone balance weights, sitting in a weighted gimballed bowl bearing a faded stamp from an Antwerp chandler (?), with sliding dust cover. Can you give the 5,500 fr to Alexandre, you know that this sum just pays my debt to the hotel. Hyppolite could not go up to 8000...”) With blank integral leaf. RUDOLPHI KARL: (1771-1832) Swedish-born German naturalist, credited as being the 'father of helminthology'. D.S., with his initials, being a 12mo admittance ticket, n.p. (Berlin), n.d., in German. The partially printed document, completed with one word in Rudolphi's hand, is valid for four people's entry to the Zoological Museum. Some light age wear and a couple of small pinholes to the upper border, about VG Karl Asmund Rudolphi founded Berlin's Zootomical Museum, now known as the Natural History Museum.

Bold black ink signature ('John Lennon') and date, 1974, in his hand on an oblong 12mo piece, with his self-caricature doodle added immediately beneath the signature. Matted in white beneath an oblong 12mo printed ticket for a performance by Elton John at Madison Square Garden, New York, 28th November 1974 (presumably an indication of where the signature was obtained). Framed and glazed in a modern plain white frame to an overall size of 9 x 7. VG

MANET EDOUARD: (1832-1883) French Painter. A fine A.L.S., `E. Manet´, one page, 8vo, n.p., Wednesday, n.d. [1881], to a friend, [Mr. Manginot?], in French. Manet forwards two seats for a playwright, stating `Mon cher ami, voila deux places pour Nana pour demain. J´ai déchiré le billet en ouvrant l´enveloppe, je te prie de m´excuser de te l´envoyer en pareil état´ (“My dear friend, here are two seats for Nana for tomorrow. I tore the ticket when I opened the envelope, please forgive me for sending it to you in such condition”) With blank integral leaf. Overall age toning and creasing, otherwise G Manet completed in 1877 a painting he entitled “Nana”. The painting was refused by the Salon of Paris. It was painted three years before Zola´s roman with same name was published. The title could have been given later by Manet.The playwright “Nana” that Manet refers to in the present letter was William Busnach´s version of Zola´s work.
