circa 1988, the signed rectangular black and slate grey dial, 15mm diameter, with gold coloured quatre Roman numerals and sword shaped hands, signed but un numbered 6 jewel quartz movement calibre 66, the crown with synthetic sapphire cabochon end stone, case, 20mm diameter, verso with four screws, signed and numbered 3 66001 63268 with Convention marks and Swiss marks for Sterling silver, to the original lizard grain strap with 'C' pin buckle, presented in the original distinctive red leather and gold tooled case with outer card box, original swing ticket and red leather wallet containing the unsigned and undated guarantee documentsFootnote: ‘Les Must De Cartier’ (the Cartier you must have) were a range of timepieces and accessories first introduced by the famous Maison in 1977. The range included a new inexpensive ‘starting range' of watches which paid homage to the original ‘Tank Louis Cartier’ watch, introduced almost 60 years earlier, and was the company’s response to the huge influx of inexpensive quartz watches from Japan which were decimating the traditional Swiss watch industry at the timeOver a dozen different dial options and multiple strap colour combinations were originally designed, and Cartier's marketing team radically decided to introduce them all. They were immediately a huge success with fashionistas and trend setters of the day, who often bought two or three at a time to match their outfits. Indeed, they became strongly linked with haute couture after celebrated French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent prominently wore one in his iconic 1983 photo portrait. It was the first time that Cartier's ‘tank’ watch had been produced in silver, but the luxury look was maintained by plating the silver with gold - so -called ‘vermeil’ - and although the original models still had a mechanical movement, models with quartz movements were introduced in 1982.Today they are sought after by collectors in addition to the 'followers of fashion'.

'Of the four issues the weekly one is difficult to obtain in a clean condition, and is therefore the costliest' (Eckel). The portfolios containing the parts seem particularly scarce. This portfolio is intended to contain Twenty-six numbers of the 'Clock' after the four pages of Advertisements have been cut off. Eckel wrote that 'in 1858, Bradbury and Evans printed special reading editions arranged by Dickens... each was a 16mo in size and uniformly bound in a green, pictorial paper wrapper. The scarcity of these little books have caused fairly high prices to prevail, particularly in America'. PICASSO PABLO: (1881-1973) Spanish Painter, a co-founder of the Cubist movement. A rare slim small 8vo colour printed admittance ticket to a bullfight signed by Picasso, the event taking place at the Plaza Toros de Nimes on Sunday, 24th May 1953 and the ticket (marked Premiere B, Rang 1) featuring a colour illustration to the centre of two toreros. Signed ('Picasso') by Picasso in blue ink to the upper border and dated 24th May 1953 in his hand. Very slightly irregularly torn to the lower edge. Together with a printed 4to souvenir programme issued for the centenary of the Feria de Nimes 1853-1953, featuring various images and printed text relating to bullfights and various toreros, including Antonio Ordonez, the blank inside front cover featuring a good, original bold black crayon drawing executed and signed by Edouard Pignon, the image depicting a bull. Signed and inscribed by Pignon at the base of the image. Some light overall age wear, about VG, 2     Signed souvenirs by Picasso related to his great passion for bullfighting are rare and desirable and, as Paloma Alarco of Madrid's Thyssen-Bornemisza Museo Nacional so accurately observed, 'The close relationship between the world of bullfighting and Picasso's oeuvre is unquestionable. From his childhood days in Malaga, where his father often took him to the bullring, he was greatly fascinated by the national sport. In addition to the artistic possibilities of the bullfight…..Picasso regarded it as an expression of Spanishness'. Picasso regularly attended the Plaza Toros at Nimes from the autumn of 1947 until 1955, quite often with the bullfighting chronicler Andre Castel, as well as Picasso's lover at the time, Francoise Gilot, the surrealist writer Michel Leiris, and his friend Jean Cocteau. Edouard Pignon (1905-1993) French artist, a friend of Picasso with whom he shared a workshop in Vallauris from 1951-52.

Grand Sunderland Bridge Lottery, 1816, an original ticket, No.1041, signed by Cuthbert Ellison on behalf of the Trustees, vignette of bridge at top left. Extremely fine £40-£60 --- Provenance: Bt May 2006. The Sunderland Bridge lottery was to raise money for Rowland Burdon, the town’s MP, who had largely funded the iron bridge across the river Wear, which opened in August 1796 and appears on his tokens. The prize was a share in the toll money paid to cross the bridge or the rights to ferry people across the river. Burdon was a partner at a bank in Berwick and had advanced £30,000 on the bridge. When the bank failed in 1806, and to avoid any losses, a further Act of Parliament was obtained in order to allow the bridge commissioners to sell shares to the public in a lottery. The £30,000 was divided into 150 prizes, with the highest being £5,000. The draw took place on 1 December 1816 and each of the 6,000 ticket holders was presented with a commemorative medal. The prize winners were given a 5% payment from the bridge tolls, which operated for pedestrians until 1846
