1985 BMW E28 525 E AutoMake: BMWModel: 525 EYear: 1985Mileage: 116367VIN: WBADB620501097652Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: B48BEWTransmission: automatic The second generation 5 Series was introduced in 1981 and ran through to 1988, replacing the previous E12 models. At first, only four- and six-cylinder petrol engines were available, but a diesel option joined the line-up in 1983. The E28 also saw the advent of the first M5. The range continued to 1988 when it was replaced by the E34 5 Series. This handsome red 1985 example, registered in January 1985, is a 525E automatic, with 2693cc straight-six engine. In September, it passed an MoT with no advisories; the current ticket is valid until September 2022. The current odometer reading is 116,367 miles, and six former keepers are recorded. The vendor states that the car 'drives very well' and having recently been used for a classic car publication feature, we can confirm that it does perform well and behaves as it should on the road. The paperwork folder includes the present V5C and a copy of the current MoT. Previous MoT certificates date from 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017. There are some invoices dating from the 1980s, as well as more recent bills. These include a replacement radiator and water pump in 2017. The service book is stamped with 15 stamps up until 57,546 miles in March 1997. Overall, the car presents very well, with a particularly tidy beige cloth interior. There is a Category D insurance loss (vehicle damaged but repairable; insurer decided not to repair) recorded against the car from January 1999.
1993 BMW E36 320i Coupe Make: BMWModel: 320iYear: 1993Mileage: 84400VIN: WBABF12040EK87062Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: K566BWLTransmission: manualAlthough purchased new in Holland by a member of the RAF, this 320 coupe is to full UK spec, and in right-hand drive. It was sold at ACA's August 2021 auction, and its new owner subsequently had it fully serviced and the clutch replaced. However, due to an 'impulse purchase and it not fitting in with personal requirements', he has taken the decision to put it up for auction with us again. The car was been constantly maintained by its previous owner who, being an aeronautical engineer, was probably little challenged by machines that didn't have a habit of flying off into the ether. It is in excellent condition inside and out. The history folder contains a full set of MoTs from 1993, with the current ticket expiring in March 2022. They confirm the recorded mileage of 84,400 as genuine. The BMW service book is stamped up to 65,350 miles (in 2012); since then, the previous owner kept a note of the work done, which the present vendor has added to. The last full service was at 84,336 miles in September 2021, at a cost of £322.44. The clutch was also replaced at the same time, with this work costing £583.31. Other paperwork includes miscellaneous parts invoices over the years and HPI check summary, as well as a 2016 certificate for rustproofing by Rustbuster. The vehicle also comes with a spare key. 1996 Toyota Starlet 1.3 Glanza V Turbo EP91Make: Toyota Model: Starlet Glanza V Turbo Year: 1996Mileage: 119243VIN: EP910164429Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: P539GPFTransmission: manualThe Glanza was the sporty variant of the final generation of the small Toyota Starlet. The S version was powered by a naturally-aspirated 1331cc engine, while the Glanza V featured the same motor albeit turbocharged. In the S, it generated 84bhp, but with the V - as here - turbocharging pushed the total up to 138bhp which, in such a lightweight machine, gave impressive performance. The Glanza was only officially available on the Japanese market, although some used private imports have made their way to the UK, such as this one. Registered in August 1996, we are advised by the vendor that it's a recent JDM (Japanese domestic market) import, which has just been given a new MoT with no advisories. The ticket is valid until October 2022. He also tells us that it 'drives superbly well' and is 'incredibly rare in such standard original form, with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) exhaust, intercooler, air box, stereo, CD changer, rear speakers, wind deflectors and JDM parking stick'. The odometer reads 119,243, which equates to 74,526 miles. There is little history; the paperwork folder consisting of the current V5C, 2020 and 2021 MoTs and numberplate authorisation certificate dated November 2020, from shortly after its import. Overall, this Toyota is in very good order, with just a few blemishes in its metallic black paintwork and few signs of wear to its blue interior. Very few LT TIM machines are thought to have survived and this is the first example we have seen at auction. References: Caltabiano 534; BMC 40, same dies; SNG ANS 362, same reverse die, with original Spink ticket.Footnote: Note: The designs on this coin go back to the period when Anaxilas of Rhegion took control of Messana in 480 BC when both cities adopted the same general types of a mule-biga and a springing hare. The obverse commemorated Anaxilas’s victory in the mule-biga event at the Olympic Games in that year. The same general types continued to be utilised with variations throughout the 5th century with the crouching figure of Anaxilas himself on the earlier issues replaced, as here, with the more elegant and upright figure of the nymph Messana.
