DERBYSHIRE, Chesterfield, Chesterfield Race Stand, Built 1830, a brass Admission Ticket, unsigned, legend, rev. un-numbered, 24mm, 5.93g (W –; D & W –; cf. DNW 138, 3189). About very fine, extremely rare £200-£300 --- The racecourse at Chesterfield was situated at Whittington Moor, north of the town, and the first competitions were staged there in the early 18th century. Major alterations were made in 1797, to lengthen the course, and in 1870 to accommodate the railway. In 1829 a small grandstand was built on the lines of that erected at Doncaster, for which the Duke of Devonshire put up £50 and another £147 was collected locally, but the builder was still out of pocket by more than £200. To remedy matters a subscription scheme was set up in 1842 to which anyone who gave £5 or more received a silver ticket, giving them free entry to the stand in perpetuity. The final meeting at Chesterfield was held in July 1924

A collection of six original 1960s scrapbooks which contain an extensive selection of mementos, music paper and magazine cuttings etc. relating to The Beatles and, in particular, to George Harrison, compiled by Beatles super fan Susan Houghton. They include cuttings from UK national papers, music press and numerous cuttings from Mersey Beat. Susan used to ask Mrs Harrison for bits and pieces of George's, one of the scrapbooks contains a Gibson guitar packet which housed one of George's guitar strings, a piece of toilet paper from the loo in George's house, a piece of George's vest, the wrapper from a toffee given to her by Mrs Harrison, photographs taken from the tv etc. etc. Susan was referred to by George’s mother Louise as George’s number one fan. She was one of four friends who regularly attended The Beatles concerts at the Cavern Club, Liverpool and referred to themselves as ‘The Cement Mixers’. Susan visited George’s mother Louise Harrison during George’s absence in Hamburg in December 1962 and struck up a friendship with her which lasted many years. A number of the cuttings, many of which have been taken from the Mersey Beat papers, have come loose from the pages over the years. The condition is good. The scrapbooks each measure approximately 20.5cm x 16.5cm.Provenance: from the collection of Susan Houghton, originally sold through Christie’s, South Kensington, London in their entertainment sale held on 29th August 1991. (Unfortunately some of the items such as sets of Beatles autographs, concert ticket stubs etc have been removed from the books since they were first sold through the Christie’s auction.)

An unused gatefold double sided card stock ticket for The Beatles appearance on the British ITV television programme Blackpool Night Out that took place at the A.B.C. Theatre, Blackpool, Lancashire, England on 1st August 1965. FRONT CIRCLE. ROW D. Seat 41. A colour postcard printed with the words ‘Greetings From Blackpool Night Out’ forms part of this gatefold ticket. Blackpool Night Out was presented by Mike and Bernie Winters. This would be The Beatles only television appearance to promote their forthcoming album ‘Help!’ which would be released just five days later on 6th August 1965. The group performed six songs ‘I Feel Fine’, ‘I’m Down’, ‘Act Naturally’, ‘Ticket To Ride’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Help!’. It was the first time ‘Yesterday’ had been performed live on television, after Paul’s performance of the song John and the other Beatles returned to the stage and announced ‘Thank you Ringo, that was wonderful!’. When opened out the ticket measures 29.8cm x 10.1cm (11.7 inches x 4 inches). Tape stains on the edges of one side of the picture postcard. The condition is otherwise very good plus. Provenance: from the collection of Freda Kelly, Beatles National Fan Club Secretary 1962 to 1972. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Freda Kelly. Also comes with a Tracks Ltd. certificate of authenticity.

The concert took place at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton on 9th March 1962. The ticket measures 11.5cm x 9cm (4.5 inches x 3.5 inches). There is some glue residue on the reverse. A collection of three press photographs taken at the A.B.C. Theatre, Blackpool, Lancashire, England on the 1st August 1965 during the Beatles appearance on the British ITV television programme Blackpool Night Out. This would be The Beatles only television appearance to promote their forthcoming album ‘Help!’ which would be released just five days later on 6th August 1965. The group performed six songs ‘I Feel Fine’, ‘I’m Down’, ‘Act Naturally’, ‘Ticket To Ride’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Help!’. It was the first time ‘Yesterday’ had been performed live on television, after Paul’s performance of the song John and the other Beatles returned to the stage and announced ‘Thank you Ringo, that was wonderful’. Two photographs are stamped Graham Spencer Photography, Liverpool on the reverse and the other photograph is stamped Barry Farrell. Each of the Graham Spencer photographs measures 21.5cm x 17cm (8.5 inches x 6.5 inches). There are light tape stains on two edges with a minor scuff on the front of one of the photographs. The condition is very good. The Barry Farrell photograph measures 22.75cm x 19cm (8.9 inches x 7.5 inches). There is writing on the reverse with a crease to the upper left corner and tape stains on two of the corners. The condition is very good. Provenance: from the collection of Freda Kelly, Beatles National Fan Club Secretary 1962 to 1972. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Freda Kelly. Also comes with a Tracks Ltd. certificate of authenticity.

An original souvenir programme from the 1963 UK tour by Chris Montez and Tommy Roe on which The Beatles were a support act. The tour took place from 9th March to 31st March 1963. This is an extremely rare version of the programme that was issued only by Granada cinemas. During the tour The Beatles performed at three Granada cinemas: East Ham London on the 9th March 1963, Bedford on the 12th March 1963 and Mansfield on the 26th March 1963. It is accompanied by a ticket stub from the show at Mansfield on 26th March. The programme measures 17.7cm x 23.8cm (7 inches x 9.4 inches). It has some scuffing and tape staining on the front and reverse around the spine. The condition is very good minus. The ticket stub measures 6cm x 6.5cm (2.25 inches x 2.5 inches). There is some light creasing in the upper right corner. The condition is excellent.

The four page programme is printed with black & white headshots of The Beatles on the front and an itinerary for the event inside. It is accompanied by two concert ticket stubs for the 2nd performance. The support acts for this concert included Tony Marsh, The Kinks and The High Numbers who went on to become The Who. The programme measures 21.5cm x 28cm (8.5 inches x 11 inches). There is some scuffing to the front cover, two holes punched along the left side throughout and some tape staining on the reverse cover where the two stubs have previously been taped. The condition is very good minus. The ticket stubs each measure 8cm x 6.5cm (3 inches x 2.5 inches). There is tape staining to both. The condition is very good minus.

November 2011, Lot 314- Sammlung Kasper König, BerlinDie Karriere von Kasper König im New York der 1960er Jahre ist eng verbunden mit dem Pop Art Künstler Andy Warhol, der für die Ikonisierung von Berühmtheiten und alltäglichen Produkten auf Gemälden und Serigrafien sowie als Kunstfigur berühmt wird. Die erste monografische Museumsausstellung von Warhol in Europa organisiert Kasper König, deren Planung und Umsetzung bis heute legendär ist. Im Sinne von Warhol Nachdem König 1966 für den Direktor Pontus Hultén eine Ausstellung von Claes Oldenburg an das Moderna Museet in Stockholm vermittelt, plant er den amerikanischen Pop Art Künstler Andy Warhol auszustellen - mit einem minimalen Budget. Dabei verzichtet König auf große Leihgaben und die damit verbundenen Versicherungs- und Transportkosten. König spricht hierzu 2015: "Ich habe zum Beispiel die Möglichkeit gehabt, diese Warhol-Ausstellung für Stockholm vorzuschlagen, musste aber zeigen, dass das auch fast ohne Geld möglich ist. Daher wurde alles extra für die Ausstellung produziert, nichts geliehen. Das ergab sich aus ökonomischen Gründen: Wie kann ich ohne viel Geld maximal zu einer klaren Sache kommen, die auch eine gewisse Quantität hat und die Produktion, Distribution und Rezeption in einem zeigt? Das war eine glückliche Konstellation. Das kann man nicht vergleichen. Damals waren die Bedingungen vollkommen andere als heute." So werden die Werke vor Ort neu produziert und in Kooperation mit Warhols Factory erfolgt die Versendung von Tapeten mit Kühen und Serigrafien in Rollen nach Stockholm, wo die Ausstellung 1968 von Februar bis März präsentiert wird. Um die sonst aus Sperrholz gefertigten Brillo Boxen von Warhol zu zeigen, orderte König direkt bei der Firma die zusammengefalteten Kartons für je 20 Cent und versendet diese nach Schweden. König resümiert: "Legendär auch für mich persönlich, weil ich gar nicht zur Eröffnung gefahren bin. Ich habe das Ticket stattdessen eingetauscht und konnte davon drei oder vier Monate leben. Im Nachhinein hört sich das sehr kokett an, aber das war wohl auch mitverantwortlich für den legendären Status dieser ersten Museumsausstellung von Warhol."Die "Black and White Paintings" und Aspekte der ÖkonomieDas Spätwerk "Somebody wants to buy your apartment building!" von 1985-86 nimmt sich die Bildsprache der Werbetafeln und Plakate zum Vorbild und thematisiert die Wirkungsweise von Sprache und Schrift. Das SchwarzWeiß Negativ zählt zur Serie der "Black and White Paintings", einer Schaffensperiode des Künstlers ab Mitte der 1980er Jahre, in der er sich von den Werbeplakaten, Zeitungsausschnitten, Karten und Illustrationen New York Citys inspirieren ließ. So enthält es einen für die hier imitierte Immobilienbranche typischen Imperativ, der durch die Blockhaftigkeit der Buchstaben und des angefügten Exklamationszeichens betont wird. Auch die Reduktion der Farbigkeit bekräftigt das Werk und die enthaltene Aussage in deren Prägnanz und Evidenz einer sofortigen Reaktion des Rezipienten. Wie eine Zeitungsanzeige konzipiert, setzt Warhol die Nachfrage und Wertigkeit einer Immobilie in der Form eines Kunstwerkes um und stellt diese somit dem alltäglichen Aspekt der Ökonomie gleich. Parallel zu dieser Serie definiert Warhol die Möglichkeiten der Malerei für sich neu in der Zusammenarbeit mit Jean-Michel Basquiat und Francesco Clemente.
