SUB STANDARD PROGRAMMES Approximately 120 programmes, majority are football related but others cover rugby, boxing, motor racing etc. The football issues include English, Scottish and Irish League, Amateur, European, Friendly, International etc, mainly 50s to 70s. The other sport issues include: rugby at Cardiff Arms Park, Twickenham; motor racing at Brands Hatch and Goodwood, British Empire Games in London 1934 etc. These programmes are described as sub-standard because apart from the usual faults of team changes/scores/scorers, tokens missing, folds, they also include pages/covers missing, heavily creased/marked etc. Also included in this lot is a Wales rosette and ticket for London 5-A-Side Football Championships at Wembley 1968. Inspection would be advised, but you will find the odd generally good issue. As described
MANCHESTER UTD Framed and glazed limited edition (no.1 of 500) montage relating to the success of Utd becoming European Champions in 1968 defeating Benfica, comprises black and white picture of Nobby Stiles with arm around captain Bobby Charlton, first day cover with a 1966 World Cup stamp and franked Harrow & Wembley 26 May 1968, plus ticket (unable to confirm if original), approx 27" x 20". All tickets are for the North Grand Stand. The 1948 Olympics were the 1st summer Olympics since the 1936 games in Berlin and were the 2nd time London hosted. Good
A silver and black onyx ring by Montblanc and a pair of silver and black hardstone cufflinks by Chimento, the ring designed as a tapered band of alternating silver and onyx lines, size O½ , signed 'Montblanc', design number 56, common control assay mark for silver; the cufflinks designed as a tapered tube with angled ends pavé set with round cut black stones, with curved bars and swivel ends, signed 'Chimento', Italian assay marks and London hallmarks 2010, retailer's ticket still attached for £310 (2)
BEATLES THE: A vintage blue printed oblong 12mo ticket for The Davis Cup Semi-Final Round European Zone tennis matches played at Bristol Lawn Tennis Club, Thursday, 18th July 1963, individually signed to the verso by three members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Each have signed with their names alone in bold blue inks. McCartney would appear to have almost signed his name twice, a further initial P appearing below the three signatures. Not signed by John Lennon. With three small tape stains to three corners, not affecting the signatures, and the name of the previous collector in ink at the base of the card. Some very light, minor surface creasing, G The Beatles performed live at the Odeon theatre in Weston-Super-Mare, near Bristol, from 22nd - 27th July 1963 as part of their Summer UK Tour.
STEYN MARTINUS THEUNIS: (1857-1916) South African Statesman, President of the Orange Free State 1896-1902. D.S., M T Steyn, as President, one page, folio, Bloemfontein, 30th May 1899. The partially printed document, in Afrikaans, is untranslated although is a special marriage licence. Signed by Steyn at the foot alongside an orange blind embossed paper seal. Two neat splits to the edges of the folds at the upper and lower edges, not affecting the text or signature. Together with two pieces of printed ephemera relating to South African railway transport comprising a partially printed oblong 8vo Railway Platform Pass issued to Mr. Treadgold, 27th August 1902, and a printed oblong 12mo railway ticket for a journey from Johannesburg to Durban by second class. The platform pass neatly mounted and the ticket inlaid. G to about VG, 3
RUGBY UNION: Selection of vintage signed album pages, signed snapshot photographs etc., by various Rugby Union players, including Bennie Osler, Danie Craven and other Springbok players of 1930-31, various members of the Australian Rugby Union team who toured South Africa in 1933 (including McPhillips, Hodgson, Campbell, Grace, Cowper, Steggall, Love, Bland, Cerutti, Cooke, Mackney etc.), Irish Rugby Union team 1934 (15 signatures to the verso of a printed 12mo ticket for a match against England at Lansdowne Road, 10th February 1934) etc. Most are multiple signed. BLYTON ENID: (1897-1968) English Children's Writer, creator of Noddy, The Famous Five and The Secret Seven. Vintage fountain pen ink signature and inscription ('Ann, love from Enid Blyton') to the verso of an oblong 12mo printed admittance ticket for a Daily Express Forum debate entitled Are We Being Fair To Our Children? at the Methodist Church Hall in Luton, 20th April n.y., chaired by Sir Charles J. Bartlett and with a panel including Blyton. Some extremely light, very minor age wear, VG

Theatre programme for a production of Dad's Army at Theatre Royal, Bath, August/September 1976, 16 pp. including printed stapled wrappers, featuring adverts, cast list and biographies, etc., the biographies for Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring), John Le Mesurier (Sergeant Wilson), Arnold Ridley (Private Godfrey), Ian Lavender (Private Pike), Bill Pertwee, (Chief ARP Warden Hodges), Frank Williams (Rev. Timothy Farthing) and Edward Sinclair (Mr Yeatman, the verger), all neatly signed in black, blue or red ink by the actor concerned, ticket stub for 2nd September peformance tipped on to one page, slim 8vo, together with a colour photographic reproduction of five of the Dad's Army main characters outdoors, signed in the blank lower margin by the right-most actor John Laurie, 14 x 22.5cm (2)
*Hastings (Warren, 1732-1818). An original ticket for the trial of Warren Hastings, Hundred and Forty-Second Day, [3 June 1794], engraved and printed in blue on laid paper, with engraved crest, close-trimmed at left margin and horizontal crease, 16 x 9.5cm, pasted on to contemporary card The trial of Warren Hastings dragged on for seven years between 1788 and 1795. Hastings was accused of misconduct during his time in Calcutta but was acquitted, this ticket from one of the nine days during which Edmund Burke replied to the defence from late May to mid June 1794. *Lennon (John and Ono, Yoko). An unused ticket to the 'Alchemical Wedding' performance at Royal Albert Hall, 18 December 1968, the pink ticket and perforated stubs printed in black and titled 'Celebration in December: A Community Benefit', this 20 shilling ticket for Lower Orchestra East, Row 7, Seat 25, 6 x 13cm A mint condition specimen. Alchemical Wedding was based on Lennon and Ono's theory of "Bagism" which sought to satirise stereotyping, the idea being that the only way to escape being judged was to put a bag over one's entire body.
