ALI MUHAMMAD: (1942- ) American Boxer, World Heavyweight Champion. Black ink signature (`Muhammad Ali`) on the verso of a slim, oblong 12mo printed ticket for the Heavyweight Championship fight between Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes at the Civic Auditorium, Redding, California, 2nd October 1980. EX
DIANA: (1961-1997) Princess of Wales. A.L.S., Diana, on two sides of her correspondence card, n.p., n.d. (`Wednesday`, 19th October 1988), to Janet [Filderman]. The Princess encloses two tickets for the opera at Covent Garden for her correspondent to use, commenting `Please say that you can go as it would make me very happy.` Together with the two used printed tickets for a performance of Falstaff by the Welsh National Opera and an admission ticket for the Women of the Year luncheon at the Savoy Hotel, London, on the same day. One very slight crease, otherwise VG
MONTGOMERY B. L.: (1887-1976) British Field Marshal of World War II. Signed Christmas greetings card, the small 8vo folding cream card featuring an image to the inside of Schloss Ostenwalde. Signed (`B. L. Montgomery, Field Marshal`) beneath a printed greeting along with the address and date, TAC Head Quarters, Rhine Army, 1945. Two red and blue printed coats of arms appear to the front cover. Together with vintage fountain pen ink signatures of Edmund Hillary, George Lowe and Alfred Gregory individually on a page removed from an autograph album, annotated by a collector at the head The Conquerors of Everest and with a small attached magazine photograph of Hillary attached; a blue fountain pen ink signature of Prime Minister Anthony Eden on an admission ticket to a Conservative Fete and Rally at Colchester, 22nd July (1950) and a letter bearing a facsimile signature of Clement Attlee. 1952 Olympic Games, a set of 52 programmes from the 1952 Games in Helsinki, including the Opening/Closing ceremonies. The programme were supplied by the press office, and includes the programme of events and ticket prices. This lot gives an excellent opportunity to acquire a complete set of programmes, and is good investment prior to the 2012 Olympics In London.
Football programmes, a varied collection of over 250 programmes, with large Arsenal content, from the 1940`s to 1970`s. Included are 63 Arsenal homes from the 1950`s including the 1952 and 1953 practice matches, and other representative games, plus 21 Arsenal away programmes from the early to Mid 1950`s, and the 1952 FA Cup Final programme and ticket. In addition to this is a 1966 World Cup Final programme, and 55 various Football programmes, mainly from the early to Mid 1950`s, a nice lot with high resaleable value!.
FA Cup Finals, a programme of arrangements from 6 FA Cup Finals, 1972, 1976, 1979, 1980, 1987 & 1988, the table plan and list of guest for the luncheon given by the Chairman and Directors of Wembley Stadium Ltd for 1970, 1971 (with ticket), 1976 ticket only, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1986, 1987, 1988. Plus 9 FA Cup Final tickets 1966, 1971 (private box), 1972 (private box), 1976 (private box), 1978 (royal box), 1979 (royal box), 1988 (royal box), 1983 (royal box), and 1994 (banqueting hall). In addition to this is the 1978 FL Cup Final programme of arrangements, plus table plan and luncheon for the FL Cup Finals, 1973, 1980, 1983, a superb lot!.
Coleraine, an interesting collection of items, programmes include 46/47 Linfield v Coleraine (Irish Cup), 63/64 Coleraine v Dunfermline, a Northern Ireland representative ticket for Coleraine Reserves, dated 10/05/1941, a letter dated 19/08/1948 from Cowdenbeath regarding Isaac McDowell, 1974/1975 Irish Cup Winners Dinner menu, plus 5 copies of the dinner menu, 27/09/82, for Tottenham v Coleraine (ECWC), 2 of which have autographs, plus a rare team sheet.
1966 World Cup Final, England v West Germany, a programme and ticket from the Final game, played at Wembley on 30/07/1966. The programme is in very good condition, team line-up`s blank. In addition is the rare Daily Express community song sheet, and England rosette. The vendor of the lot, attended the Final in person.
Tickets, a collection of 26 match tickets, including 1968 European Cup Final, Manchester Utd v Benfica, 1967 to 1972 FA Cup Finals, various England homes, 56/57 FA Cup Semi-Final, Birmingham Or Nottingham Forest v Man Utd, at Sheffield Wednesday, 4 x Chelsea FA Cup 6th Round Ticket, plus the rare 68/69 WBA v Dynamo Bucharest & Dunfermline Athletic ECWC games.
