MALLARME (Stephane, French Symbolist Poet, 1842-1898) Oxford, Cambridge. La Musique et Les Lettres, Paris: Perrin et Cie, Librarie Academique Didier, 1895, 8vo, paper wrappers (somewhat worn), spine broken, inscribed by Mallarme to first leaf `a Leonard Whibley un si cher souvenir son` and signed with his monogram. *Mallarme visited Cambridge in 1894, and delivered a lecture on French Poetry in Pembroke College on March 2nd of that year. Whibley (1863-1941), a Pembroke don and classical scholar, must have attended the lecture along with J.A.Nicklin, who wrote for the Westminster Gazette. The lot includes 2 related newspapers cuttings; a ticket for the actual lecture; a later letter and postcard from J.A. Nicklin to Whibley; a letter from G.C. Moore Smith who also attended the lecture, and two small advance notices

MEMORABILIA: Marc Bolan / T.Rex,Born to Boogie 1972 concert film based around a concert at Wembley Empire Pool starring Marc Bolan and T. Rex. Directed by Ringo Starr, the movie was released on The Beatles` Apple Films label. Born to Boogie consists of concert footage; recording studio scenes with guest stars Ringo Starr and Elton John, filmed at the Apple Studios in Savile Row, London. The lot contains two original ticket stubs for the concert at Wembley, an original programme for the film with flyer insert for Gigs to be held at Sundown venues listing Pretty Things, Hawkwind, T.Rex, etc. Plus other relevant newspaper cuttings
BOXING-ALI Programme and ticket for the World Heavyweight Championship Title fight between Muhammad Ali and Henry Cooper at Arsenal Stadium, 21/5/66. Programme has a vertical fold and ticket has a couple of folds. Also included is programme for the fight at Wembley, 25/3/69 between Billy Walker and Jack Bodell (Bugner on undercard-winners noted).
1923 CUP FINAL Ticket for the 1923 Cup Final, Bolton v West Ham. The first Wembley Final and the only Final not to be all-ticket. In view of the huge number who turned up on the day, all future Finals have been all-ticket. Also included is a real press photo of the Bolton team with the Cup which has a mount , approx 9" x 7". The Lot is completed with a copy of Pictorial Magazine dated 28/4/1923, a 40 page magazine which has four pages devoted to a preview of the Final.The ticket is for the South Stand and is in good condition, very slight foxing to the reverse but the front is very good. MANCHESTER UNITED AC Milan v Manchester United 20th May 1969. Unused personal Invitation ticket for the match in Brussels at Heysel Stadium. This match never took place as it would have been the play-off between the two clubs in the European Cup Semi-Final if the two clubs finished level on aggregate. As it happened, Milan defeated United 2-1 on aggregate but preliminary preparations had taken place for the potential play-off match at a neutral venue and this is an official Belgian FA invite to the play-off. Scarce item which contains block, row and seat number. Fold, writing on the reverse in French language Good
CRICKET SCORECARDS An interesting collection of ephemera belonging to Somerset cricketer Bill Andrews from the Wartime period 1942-44, includes West Of England XI fixture card 1944, British Empire XI fixture card 1944, scorecards for London Counties v British Empire 1944 at Lords, Bolton/Lancashire Xi v Empire XI 1942, RAF v West of England 1944, Glamorgan v West of England XI, 1944 and ticket and scorecard for West of England XI v Somerset at Clifton 1944. Finally a fixture programme/brochure for H.B.Rowans Empire XI cricket tour 1950 is included. All belonged to Bill Andrews of Somerset and have been previously laid down. Fair
FIFTIES Selection of 50s programmes, 22 programmes including 1952 Cup Final (fair-small rear cover repair), England Boys v Scotland at Shef Wed 56/7, Semi Blackburn v Bolton 58, Blackburn v Luton 30/4/54 in Dublin, Villa v Man Utd 52/3, (good), Birmingham v Carlisle 56/7 Cup, Bolton v Huddersfield 50/51, Bolton v Birmingham 55/6 and Bolton v Shef Utd Cup 55/6, Bristol Rovers v Norwich 50/51 with ticket, Reading v Millwall 51/2, 53/4, 54/5 and 57/8, also included are Wolves v Chelsea 57/8 and 58/9 plus a couple of other Wolves homes from 58/9. Some of the programmes have the usual ramge of fairly minor faults, others are in at least fair-generally good condition. As described
WEMBLEY BIG MATCH Seven programmes, all with ticket, Cup Finals 66, 68 and 69, England v Wales 64 signed by Cliff Jones and Thompson, England v Belgium 64, v Scotland 65 and v Hungary 65 plus Burnley v Newport 65(Cup, also with ticket). Tickets are in generally good condition althoufgh some were previously laid down lightly to the front of the appropriate programme. FILM / MUSICAL Approximately 43 programmes covering Theatre, Musical, and Film in London, many are for the original performances and some concert programmes included. Concert performers include Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr, musicals include Hair, Evita, Camelot, Jesus Christ Superstar and Half A Sixpence, Films include The Sound of Music, Love Story, The Godfather, Doctor Zhivago, Cleopatra and Spartacus. Programme and tickets for the Bolshoi Ballet (1965) also included and a few of the programmes, eg Cleopatra have tickets with them and a ticket (creased) for Sunday Night at the London Palladium, 17/5/59 is included.
