TWO MARCONI INTERNATIONAL MARINE COMMUNICATION LTD TELEGRAMS sent by Titanic survivors aboard S.S.Carpathia, one from Ruth Bowker, reading 'Safe Ruth', the other from Harry Anderson reading 'Safe Aboard Carpathia Harry', on official Marconi communication paper, stamped and dated Carpathia 18 Apr 1912 and mounted to either side of a ledger page numbered 56 and 57. * Mr Harry Anderson was a noted Wall Street Stockbroker who boarded the Titanic at Southampton (ticket no. 19952, cabin E12) to return to New York after a trip to England with his dog. He was one of the first of the First class passengers to leave aboard lifeboat no. 3, regrettably without his dog. Ruth Bowker is listed as restaurant cashier on many Titanic lists. As an employee of the first class restaurant 'The Ritz' on B deck, she was not employed by the White Star company but the restaurant director Luigi Gatti. Neither a crew member or a passenger she found a place on a lifeboat to be rescued aboard S.S. Carpathia and returned home to England aboard S. S. Lapland.

He read English at Worcester College, Oxford, graduating in 1954. He stayed on as a tutor in Old and Middle English while doing his doctorate on John Cleveland, the cavalier poet. He first made his mark as editor and textual critic of English theatre in the Elizabethan, Jacobean and Caroline periods. Besides a long career with several Universities, he was a published poet, and served on numerous English and Welsh arts committees and was made a life peer in 1990. (3)

Football: four scrap books for Charlton Athletic Football Club covering the period 1945-50, chiefly newspaper cuttings, together with autographs on RNC Dartmouth headed paper of players including Sam Bartram and Don Welsh, stills photos, supporter's rosette, FA Cup Final ticket for April 26th 1947 (Charlton 1 - Burnley 0) and two programmes.
A Chad Valley black doll, velvet moulded face and body, glass inset eyes, painted open mouth, wearing checked cotton trousers and yellow jacket, red turban and earrings, Chad Valley cloth ticket to foot. c.1930's, together with another similar black doll, pyjama case, glass inset eyes and smiling painted mouth, sprigged, yellow satin dress/pyjama case, unmasked 53cms high; Golly in felt, unmasked. DH50, DH58 and DH97 very fine or better, the others extremely fine or nearly so, both DH63 with much lustre, the DH37 rare. (6)

BRITISH TRADE TOKENS, Tickets and Passes, Gambling Ticket, I Lister, Copper (used as a Halfcrown), 1792, obv shield of arms and date, rev I L cypher, IMF (for J Milton) in small letters below, plain edge (D&W 56). Extremely fine with a little lustre, scarce. John Lister kept a gambling house at Norris Street on Haymarket in London. In 1792 he was summoned to court for this and fined £200. Some of these tickets were produced as evidence at the trial.
