Pierced, about very fine. from the G H Gaviller Collection. Holders would have attached these tickets to the key that would be used to gain access to the King’s Road, then indeed a private road.

(2) The calendar medal unlisted by Silke Ackermann, The Medal, Nos 45, 46, Autumn 2004, Spring 2005.

FOREIGN / WORLD COINS, Coins from the wreck of HMS Lutine, Carlo I Borbone (1734-1759), gold 1-Oncia 1736 (F 887; KM C 14A); Mexico, 8-Reales (2), 1794, 1796 (KM 109). The first very fine, others corroded but legible. (3) The ticket for the Oncia reads: “from the wreck of HMS Lutine” and at the top “ W Gaviller” from whom it was presumably a present. The 8-Reales are mounted on a card in a glazed box: LLOYD’S, Royal Exchange, London December 1886. This coin and more than 3,000 others, with three watches, two cannons, and various relics, were recovered in 1886, from HM Frigate “Lutine, which was totally wrecked off the coast of Holland on the 9th October AD 1799 (signed) HM Hozier Secretary of Lloyd’s”. For further information on the coins from the Lutine see NCirc October 1966.
