MANCHESTER UNITED INTEREST; an exceptionally rare Newton Heath Football Club Co. Ltd. season ticket card for 1892-93, the simple folding card detailing the Board of Directors to the left hand side and detailed to the right 'Reserved Open Stand Admit Mr L. Cassidy', the exterior card numbered 78, a MUFC 1936-37 Gentleman's Reserved Stand season ticket card numbered 186, a modern Manchester United pennant and a small group of reproduced photographs. The 1892-93 season was Newton Heath's first season in the Football League, where they finished bottom of Division One Championship with eighteen points. However, as there was no formal relegation in the league in those days, they had to play a further match against a Second Division team in order to attain their place in the league for the following season. In this match they beat Birmingham City over two legs to remain in the top division. It is exceptionally rare to find memorabilia relating to the club when known as Newton Heath and this membership card has been passed through the family to the present vendor.
