Two Dutch weather glasses and a water glass barometer Anonymous, 19th century Each of half teardrop form, the first with suspension loop above crimped frill decoration to sides providing a crude form of calibration and slender tall spout to front, the base with ball pendant finial, 24cm high, B.C. Ref. 300; the second plain, also with slender tall spout and ball pendant finial, 28cm high, B.C. Ref. 299; and a waterglass barometer consisting of a pear shaped open necked bottle inverted into a cylindrical jar, 26cm high, B.C. Ref. 301, (3). Illustrated in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETERS Aneroid and Barographs: the first on page 139 and the third page 140. These instruments are essentially simple indicators of changes in atmospheric pressure and could be used to help make basic weather predictions.

MANCHESTER to centre opposing an aneroid barometer similarly signed to centre, with rotating paper scale lined barograph drum driven by the clock and with pencil pointer linked to the aneroid barometer and moved by the timepiece to mark the paper scale every hour, in glazed front case with moulded base and applied with ivorine trade plate to apron, lacking thermometer and barometer hand, 42cm high, 67cm wide, B.C. This barometer is a copy of the Holosterique barometer produced by the firm of Naudet, Hulot & Cie in Paris after Vidies patent had expired in 1859.

The firm of Negretti & Zambra are recorded by Banfield as working from circa 1850 when the partnership between Enrico Negretti and Joseph Warren Zambra was formed.
