METEOROLOGY/CLIMATOLOGY -- HOWARD, L. Barometrographia: twenty years' variation of the barometer in the climate of Britain, exhibited in autographic curves, with the attendant winds and weather, and copious notes illustrative of the subject. Lond., R. & J.E. Taylor, 1847. W. 20 cold. charts. Lge-fol. Cont. hcl. w. marbled paper on sides & title label on front side. (Bind. rubbed/chafed/worn, spine ends dam., corners worn, two plates with small repair on v°, a bit foxing in places). NOTE:In this work, Luke Howard (1772-1864), (aka 'Namer of Clouds' and 'Father of meteorology') gave a series of curves (1815-1834) of the variation of the barometer, with large circular diagrams representing its changes with other particulars of weather, and incorporating the position of the moon. - Extremely rare.

A late Victorian inlaid rosewood combination mantel clock, aneroid barometer and thermometer, with two circular dials flanking the central brass thermometer, with applied presentation plaque ‘VETERAN MAJOR R.F.FROST FROM FRIENDS IN THE HAMPSHIRE REGIMENT CURRAGH 1895”, height 25cm, length 41cm.Additional InformationThere is the odd mark/indentation and knocks to the body, one of the circular brass plates is loose and being held in position with Blu-tac. There is the odd knock and scuff. The clock movement has part of the wire from the chain movement loose. We do not have the key to wind the mechanism, so we are unable to see if the clock is in working order. As stated, the inscription plaque is worn.
