Bailey is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working from 14 & 15 Bennetts Hill, Birmingham circa 1865-85.

A gilt brass novelty aneroid barometer in the form of a kettle drum, G.B. & Sons, circa 1870, the circular silvered register calibrated in barometric inches divided into twentieths and with the unusual observations, with blued steel pointer to centre and brass recording pointer to the bevel-cut glass, the hemispherical case applied with mock beaters to the surround and with twisted wire line simulated tension wires to waist, resting on stand formed from three crossed batons on disc base with ropetwist border, the underside of the drum with kitemark and stamped G.B. & SONS 11.5cm, 4.5ins (high).
