A late Victorian combined carriage clock, aneroid barometer, thermometer and compass in gilt brass case with silvered dials and scales, engraved "RHS" monogram, engraved "Made In Paris" to barometer, the back having two hinged doors opening to show mechanisms and movements, with key, case approx. 16cm high x 17cm wide x 7cm deep. Further Details: Generally good condition, all untested movements, slight scratches and general wear to casing.
A mixed collection of ceramics, glass costume jewellery and other items to include; Doulton stoneware small pieces, large German blue and white charger, glass paperweights, small quantity of plated flatwares including punch ladle, two plated pocket watches, quantity of pressed/moulded glass wares, a small quantity of fashion and costume jewellery, two plated tankards, tin, various small prints, a small modern barometer etc and others. (2 boxes) Some signs of damage to a few items.
John Gally & Co, Exeter, a Georgian mahogany stick barometer the brass dial having usual barometer markings and engraved with the makers name Jno. Gally & Co, Exeter, with an inset thermometer, the mahogany case with crossbanding, turned cistern cover and surmounted with an architectural pediment, height 97cm.John Gallie (Gally) & Co are recorded as working at the Old Golden Lion in Guinea Street, Exeter and advertised as makers and repairers of barometers at this address in the Exeter Flying Post of 19th July 1798. A similar example is illustrated in Time in Exeter by Clive N. Ponsford, plate 45.
