A rare mahogany wheel barometer,19th century, with 5in dial over a detachable thermometer and a small engraved dial, the level dial inscribed 'Abraham, Optician, Bath',96cm high18cm wideJoseph Abraham was also a scientific instrument maker, producing globes, telescopes, compasses, draughtsmen's drawing sets and, of course, barometers. He worked in Bath for many years, firstly from St. Andrews Terrace (1809-1811) and then from 7, Bartlett Street (1818-1842) where this barometer was made. It is believed that Joseph retired in 1845.
