A very rare rock crystal, silver, corallium rubrum, black and red lacquer, Demi-Mystery BarometerCartier, 1930The twelve-sided transparent 3 inch dial entitled 'Atmospheric Pressure relative to Sea Level' and showing pressure in tenths of an inch from 28 to 31 inches via an arrow shaped hand connected with a chain running to the bellows in the base, with recording hand moved via a cabochon corallium rubrum central button, the six weather predictions comprising:Very Dry and Still,Fair and Calm,Unsettled,Wind and Rain,Much Rain and Wind,and Very Stormy.framed within a red and black lacquer bezel, mounted on a fluted rock crystal column and stepped black and red lacquered silvered socle.Footnotes:Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Cartier, dated 18 June 2008.Provenance: A European Private Collection.This barometer follows the style of the second mystery clock model produced by Cartier, wherein a single axle runs up the main shaft.
