A 19th century French eight day porcelain and gilt metal column clock/barometer, the top section of square form, the dial set with Roman numerals opposed by an aneroid barometer and with two hand painted porcelain panels to either side above a central hand painted porcelain column raised on square marble plinth, the movement signed S Marti, Medaille de Bronze, no.1592, height 58cm.

Leroy à Paris, a black marble perpetual calendar mantel clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, stamped on the backplate with the signature & serial number of the retailer, Leroy à Paris, 13492, and the trademark of the maker of the roulant blanc, S. Marti et Cie, Medaille de Bronze and oval stamp with the initials C.A.F quite probably the finisher of the movement for Leroy, with a visible Brocot escapement to the centre of the two-piece enamel dial, black Roman numerals and blued steel moon hands, signed to the centre for the retailer Leroy & Fils, 211 Regent Street, 13 & 15 Palais Royale, Paris, with a thermometer set below the dial showing both Reaumur and Fahrenheit, with a round barometer dial set to the lower right-hand side having two badges stamped on, with a second subsidiary dial having further subsidiary dials showing the moonphase, day & date and with the outer dial marked for the perpetual calendar changes and month, the black marble case of serpentine design with scroll sides, height 51 cms.* Le Roy et Fils were established by Basile Charles Le Roy in 1785 and were well known and fine makers of clocks. Basile Charles Le Roy was the Master Clockmaker to Napolean & along with his son Charles-Louis were clockmaker’s to the Princess Pauline and the Duke de Bourbon. Examples of their work are in all the major collections as well in the Ministere de la Guerre, Paris. The Maison de Le Roy was founded in 1785 at Palais Royal & continued until the death of Charles at Versailles in 1865. They took on premises at 13-15 Galerie Montpensier, Palais Royal, Paris when the Duc d’Orleans opened the Palais Royal gardens for both the trade and public’s use with many prestigious shops opening under the arcaded walkways. From 1885 their London retail outlet was at 57 Bond Street having moved from Regent Street. * Samuel Marti was one of the prolific French makers of the 1800’s and was known to be working circa 1860 at Le Pays de Montbeliard, Paris making roulant blancs. Along with Japy Freres and Roux they set up a business in 1863 to market their movements to such firms as L’Epee. Their Paris address was Rue Vieille-du-Temple from 1870.

T & H Doublet, a large profusely carved oak barometer the twelve-inch round silvered dial engraved with the maker’s details T & H Doublet, 4 City Road, London, the oak case carved with foliate decoration, with fruit to the sides and a female figure with snakes entwined below the dial, with a thermometer set within the trunk, height 153cm.* T&H Doublet are recorded as working as opticians and instrument makers at City Road, Finsbury, London from 1853 until 1868, moving in that year to Moorgate Street.

GERMAN SECOND WORLD WAR PERIOD KRIEGSMARINE BAROMETER, in black painted case with black face and luminous numerals. Numbered 043, "Nur Fur technischen Eigsatz Von 700-3000nb Belastbar". Face 5" Diameter. Bulkhead fitting 6" Diameter. Together with a German Second World War period Kriegsmarine back winding clock with Arabic numerals on a black Arabic face with separate seconds dial. The face 3.75" Diameter. (2). Provenance:- by descent from a R.N Lieutenant Commander involved in the de-commissioning of German vessels after WW2.

An early 19c bulb cistern barometer by D Stampa, 14 Leith Street, Edinburgh. The mahogany case has a broken pediment with finial between, above the silvered register plates which have a vernier and a Fahrenheit mercury thermometer to the side. The tube is exposed and the body is veneered in herringbone pattern mahogany with canted and fluted corners. The cistern cover is hemispherical and the barometer is 38" tall.

A mid 19c five dial wheel barometer , the indications comprising, top to bottom, hygrometer, alcohol Fahrenheit thermometer, a convex mirror, the 8" diameter silvered barometer dial and a spirit level. The mahogany case has a swan neck pediment with finial between and has lighter stringing to the case edges. It is unsigned and is 38" tall.

The indications comprise, top to bottom, hygrometer, alcohol Fahrenheit thermometer, convex mirror, the 8" silvered barometer dial and a spirit level with the makers name. The case has swan neck pediments and is veneered in rosewood, 38" tall overall.

A mid 19c wheel barometer, the 10" silvered dial signed J Gargory, 41 Brill Street, Birmingham. The walnut case has raised scroll edge moulding around its top, central body and base and a framed alcohol Fahrenheit thermometer mounted above the dial. Both the dial and thermometer are of silvered brass and the barometer is 39.5" tall overall.

A good mixed lot including: Victorian and other mirrors, drop dial wall clock, Edwardian fire surround tiles, humidor cabinet, Russian white metal samovar, various Tintin books, an early 19th century banjo barometer by Prosser of Bristol and another by Caminada of Taunton, in an associated oak frame.
