A Mahogany Wheel Barometer, circa 1850, swan neck pediment, hygrometer, thermometer box, 8-inch silvered dial, spirit level engraved warranted correct, 101cm high 12.12.17, Case with small cracks to veneers, veneers are discoloured, spirit level dial is missing its frame, dials are discoloured and need silvering, mercury tube looks complete.
A Mahogany Wheel Barometer, signed E.S.Comberbach, Blackburn, circa 1850, well figured case with thermometer box, 12-inch silvered dial signed, 114cm high 12.12.17, Case sides with some veneer lifting, right hand side edge with small chips to veneers and signs of old repairs, 12-inch dial with small scratches, mercury tube is complete.
An 18th Century Style Mahogany Stick Barometer, concealed mercury tube, gilt metal pediment with scroll engraving, twin vernier scale dial, later inscribed David Hubert London, turned and scroll column, turned cistern cover, 90.5cm high 06.12.17, Case with small scratches and minor chips, base with some small cracks, later inscription is rubbed, mercury tube looks complete with visible mercury.
A Patinated Barometer/Thermometer, circa 1860, inscribed verso 'Presented By The Right Hon. the Earl of Aberdeen To John Cormack for gallant conduct in saving the life of a man swept over-board at sea on the night of the 8 Sept 1863', on a patinated metal base in the form of an eagle, 42cm high 12.12.17, Patinated base with the surfaces flaking in parts and with scratch marks, dial is discoloured and needs silvering, thermometer tubes are complete.
A Russian Stick Barometer, signed G.Bielau, St Petersberg, late 19th century, exposed mercury tube with a single vernier scale dial signed, 94.5cm high 06.12.17, Pediment and sides with small chips and dents to edges, replaced dial screws, dial is discoloured throughout and needs silvering, mercury tube is complete with mercury visible.
A group of pocket watches to include two military issue open face crown wind examples both set with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dials inscribed 'B39389' and '541' to reverses respectively, and three similar regular issue examples, an oversized watch and a pocket barometer signed to dial 'J. White Glasgow', etc (8). CONDITION REPORT: Surface wear to cases including rubbing to plating where applicable and general surface scratches and nicks throughout, military examples running at point of cataloguing but this is not a guarantee of working order, remaining watches either not running or running intermittently, numerous faults including hairline cracks and minor chips to dials, viewing recommended.
A mixed lot of scientific instruments to include two Russian anemometers, a 'Vibro-Keyer', a cased voltmeter, an oak cased desk top barometer, a black painted iron telescope tripod, also a Bonnie Bafflette speaker by Richard Allen Radio Co Ltd, a small bugle stamped T. Bull of London, a gramophone horn and a flute, a cased ferrograph reel to reel tape recorder (case af), etc.
EJ DENT; an early to mid-19th century brass cased aneroid barometer and Fahrenheit's thermometer, the silvered dial set with climate indicators and Arabic numerals, signed and numbered 10,284, the case with instruction and sticker to reverse, dial diameter 10cm. CONDITION REPORT: Some areas of discolouration to dial, particularly to outer edges, some areas of surface wear to case, scratches and small areas of discolouration.
Four early to mid-20th century barometers including oak cased banjo example, length 45cm, and a Wood's Strom Glass example, length 22cm (4). CONDITION REPORT: One barometer has crudely replaced dial, general surface wear to outer cases. Wood's example appears to have a home-made case applied.
A mahogany cased banjo thermometer and barometer, the silvered dial set with Arabic numerals, length 97.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Cannot say if this is in working order. Mercury replaced, scuffs and scrapes with some small losses to the case, rubbing, discolouration and some small dents and scratches to the dial.
A George III mahogany wheel barometer, of small proportions, 14cm silvered register inscribed Thos. Rubergall, 24 Coventry Street, London, gadrooned cresting above a hygrometer, mercury thermometer and a level, outlined throughout with ebony stringing, 95cm high, c. 1810Thomas Rubergall was working from 1802 to 1854, but from Coventry street only from 1805 to 1823.
