A 19th Century mahogany banjo barometer and thermometer with conch shell marquetry inlay, the brushed steel dial marked "P. Caminada", 96 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Unknown if working. The hands seem very loose and there is discolouration throughout. Some of the wood is lifting slightly. Various knocks, chips etc throughout and looks as though the pediment has been off as has the ivory finial. Several large scratches all over especially to the bottom section of the barometer. The cover to the back sticks and needs re-hanging. The silver dial has various scratches particularly around the '29' and the screws. There is some chipping to the glass. Knocks, chips, cracks, etc all conducive with age and use - see images for further details
A George III mahogany cased stick barometer with mercury thermometer and silvered dial, the level inscribed "Galward Hitchin", 100 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The pediment appears to be missing finials on the scrolls - unknown if working. The mother of pearl button has damage to the centre and is messy. The level at the bottom appears to be missing, possibly the glass. It doesn't sit quite right and the brass finial appears to be a replacement. The brassed dial has some surface scratching. The glass cover has some browning to the bottom. The back door is broken at the base, the mercury has air bubbles and appears to be dried. One of the tubes appears to be smashed at the top. Has general wear and tear, surface scratches, discolouration, dirt etc throughout. There is a pin at the top of the barometer dial casement which does not appear to be original although has been there some time - see images for further details.
