A fine mid 19th century mahogany marine barometer by Jones, Gray & Keen, Liverpool, the circular sectioned case with reeded top, lotus leaf carved throat, spiral fluted trunk and carved base to a turned brass cistern cover set with signed ivory dials with Vernier, complete with the brass gimbal and wall mounted bracket, height 94cm. Charles Jones, John Gray, and Robert John Keen worked from 25 & 26 Strand Street, Liverpool, between 1841 and 1845. CONDITION REPORT: The barometer has been professionally and sympathetically restored and in presented in excellent condition.
An early 20th century oak cased glazed display cabinet containing a Ross of London matching eight day travelling clock with silvered dial set with Arabic numerals, compensated barometer, ivory thermometer and circular compass, all signed Ross, the clock and barometer no.1017, length of case 27.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Working and in good condition.
An early 19th century ebony strung mahogany bowfront stick barometer, the moulded top over a silvered scale and ivory adjusting knob, the ebonised cistern in the form of an urn flanked by ebony blind fluting, the scale inscribed Worthington, London, 96cm high *Nathanial Worthington (1790? - 1853) was apprenticed to Matthew Berge at 196 Piccadilly, and took over the business in partnership with James Allen in 1819. From 1835 Worthington had sole control until 1851.
