He later served as MP and Mayor of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Mayor of Derby. He rebuilt Breadsall Priory, near Derby where Eric Haslam, who was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1937, lived until his death.James Joseph Hicks founded his firm in 1861 and was at 8, 9 & 10 Hatton Garden from 1880, when numbering began. The firm, which had a reputation for quality, was acquired by Stanley in 1911 but continued to use the name
