Carascia, a Georgian stick barometer: the silvered dial engraved with typical barometer scales, the maker's name Carascia, Warranted and inset with a thermometer, with a glazed door, the mahogany case having a visible tube, an architectural pediment top with a cast-brass centre finial, canted corners and turned cistern cover, height 100cms. * Biography A Carraccia is recorded as working in London circa 1815 to 1835 with Joseph Caracia in Edenbridge from 1835 until 1855. * Note Reference Edwin Banfield, Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900, Pub. Paul Courti, Exeter, a mahogany wheel barometer: the eight-inch silvered dial engraved with typical scale and decoration to the centre, with a blued steel hand and brass marker, the mahogany case having a swan-neck pediment with a cast-brass finial to the centre and inset with a thermometer, hygrometer dial, butler's mirror and level engraved with the maker's name Paul Courti, Exeter, height 99cms. * Biography Paul Courti is recorded as working as a clock, watch and barometer maker at 38 South Street, Exeter until at least 1856 and then 7, Hight Street from 1857. * Note Reference Edwin Banfield, Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900, Pub.
