Kurhaus-Gesellschaft Baden. Aktie Fr.200. Baden 31.3.1874. #1268. Braun. Gründerstück. Im Juni 1871 wurde diese Gesellschaft für den Bau des Badener Kurhauses gegründet. Da die Baukosten massiv überschritten wurden, stand die Aktiengesellschaft drei Jahre später vor dem Ende. Daraufhin beschloss die Ortsbürgergemeinde, die Anlage zu erwerben und zu verpachten. Eines der sehr seltenen ausgegebenen Stücke. Hinten kleiner Einschnitt fachmännisch geklebt.VF.

Royal Victorian Order, Commander’s neck badge (C.V.O.), in silver-gilt and enamels, reverse numbered C10, reverse centre scratched, good very fine NOTE: Attributed to The Honourable Sir Alan Johnstone (1858-1932) who received the award as Chargé d’Affaires to the Grand Duchies of Hesse and Baden, 11 October 1901. He was appointed K.C.V.O. on 20 November 1905 whilst Ambassador at Copenhagen and G.C.V.O. on 25 April 1908 during the King’s visit to Copenhagen; he was also made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog. Between 1910 and 1917 he served as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to The Netherlands and Luxembourg.
An artillery short sword dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Baden Strong, curved, single-edged blade (light stains), slightly narrowed toward the base and widened at the tang, dated "1859" on a side and marked "S & K" on the other, the back ribbed at the centre. Brass quillon and grip in one piece, flat quillon with slightly counter-curved arms, grip thickened at the centre and grooved, pommel with button. dimensions: length 63,5 cm.

Antiope e due satiri, Anna MAria Braun (1642 -1713) (attribuito a), Rilievo in cera policroma in cornice originale laccata e dorata, Francoforte (Germania), fine XVII secolo. L’episodio raffigurato in questo elegante rilievo in cera attribuito ad Anna Maria Braun (Lione 1642 - Francoforte 1713) é tratto dal mito greco di Zeus ed Antiope: la fanciulla, figlia del re di Tebe Nitteo, duran- te una cavalcata sul Monte Citerone viene sorpresa da un temporale e si rifugia in una grotta dove si addormenta. Zeus la vede, se ne innamora e decide di prendere le sembianze di un satiro per poterla se- durre. Nella cera é colto il momento in cui Zeus sco- pre la bella Antiope mentre dorme nella grotta, qui rappresentata, come spesso nei dipinti di uguale sog- getto, da due tendaggi che fungono da quinte e fanno risaltare in primo piano la seducente figura nuda della fanciulla dormiente su suntuosi cuscini. Zeus, in se- condo piano, accompagnato da un altro satiro, é pie- gato sulle ginocchia in contemplazione della fanciulla, pensieroso, pronto a sferrare il suo “attacco amoro- so”. Alla sinistra di Zeus si nota una grande fontana marmorea, mentre sullo sfondo si delinea un paesag- gio con un imponente palazzo (verosimilmente ad indicare Tebe), una selva e il profilo accennato di due galeoni. Sopra la scena si riconosce un cielo plumbeo, grigio di nuvole, emblema del temporale ricordato dal mito. Anna Maria Braun, apprezzata ceroplasta tedesca attiva fra la fine del XVII secolo e dell’inizio del XVIII secolo, fu celebre principalmente per i ri- tratti di illustri membri delle case regnanti tedesche e olandesi, oltre ad aver riproposto, sempre in cera, diversi episodi mitologici, come quello qui riprodotto.
