Ramsden collaborated for many years with his classmate Alwyn Carr (1872–1940), completing their first major work in 1898 when they won a competition to design a mace for the new City of Sheffield. They immediately set up a studio together under the name of 'Ramsden & Carr', working in Chelsea, Battersea and eventually Fulham, before their partnership dissolved in 1919. Ramsden continued designing alone and worked in a distinctive Medieval Revival style. His pieces are typically, but not always, signed 'OMAR RAMSDEN ME FECIT' (Omar Ramsden made me).
