Late Victorian opal and diamond heart shape ring with a heart-shape opal surrounded by a border of old cut and rose cut diamonds in silver setting with two further diamonds to the foliate scroll shoulders on gold shank, ring size K.The heart shaped cluster measures approximately 10.2mm x 9.8mm. The opal measures approximately 7mm x 6mm. The opal is in good condition, no chips or cracks, light surface scratches commensurate with age. The opal has a good play of colour, displaying green, blue and pink tones. One single cut diamond to the shoulder might be a replacement stone but the rest of the diamonds are all old cut stones and original to the setting. The shank has been enlarged and strengthened with the addition of a gold slip inserted to the inside of the shank, associated solder, fairly crude. Weighs approximately 3.5 grams.

Possibly floral or floral harlequin. 13.90 x 12.98 x 5.00mmNB - the milligrain setting edge conceals any possible join to determine if this is a doublet, however the body colour suggests probably natural.Some fire can be seen on the side of the stone through the gallery.Finger size K/L - the cabochon back of the stone protrudes slightly, unnoticeable as worn but prevents the ring from sliding all the way on a ring sizer.
