An early 20th century William H Haseler white metal and opal doublet necklace, the openwork swag pendant with oval opal doublet set to centre with foliate detail surround, suspending a large conforming oval pendant with oval opal doublet to centre, upon a trace link chain with bolt ring clasp fastening, stamped to reverse ‘925’ ‘WHH’ overall length 27cm Condtion report: Surface scratching and wear to both stones. Bottom stone with an absence of fire between 9pm and 11pm.Very tarnished giving a pewter type patina. Some surface scratching and wear throughout. No obvious losses evident. Crudely later additional wire links added to one side of bolt ring fastening. Clasp possibly a later replacement. Line of doublet clearly visible when viewed from the side
A precious opal necklace, the stylised tear drop slice of opal within a yellow metal Art Nouveau style mount, with plain polished pendant bale stamped 10k, upon a snake link yellow metal chain with bolt ring clasp fastening, stamped ‘375’ gross weight 6.6gms, 29cm long, within a ‘Allisons Opal Rooms, Sydney Australia’ Condition report: Due to the mount, there is no visible line showing that this could be an opal doublet or triplet. When placed under UV light the opal phosphoresces a slight green.The opal has a slight cloudy nature starting at the top right hand corner leading slightly off centre and finishing at the point at the bottom. Good play of colour seen, with vibrant red, yellows, greens and blue. Visible join to the mount of the pendant.Tarnishing seen to the gold mount. Possible lead repair to the pendant bale. Chain to necklace appears in good condition with no major kinks or flaws. Bolt ring fastening in good working order.Opal measures 31mm L x 12mm W (at widest point)
