A pair of early 20th century opal and diamond earrings, the round cut diamond suspending stylised round cut diamond set leaves and pear shaped cabochon opal, 13mm long, all set in white metal milgrain setting edge, with post and butterfly fittings, 4cm long, 5gms, total opal weight estimated 6ct (pair) Condition report: Butterfly backs are associated. Red, blue, green and yellow play of colour seen throughout both opals. Top diamond and some further diamonds show fluorescence under UV light.All diamonds present, bright, and lively. Diamonds show inclusions under x10 loupe. Setting edge/jump rings show thinning, particularly seen to the top jump ring connecting largest diamond. Post fitting may be a later replacement as there is residue solder/unfinished work to reverse. Possible lead solder repair seen to first jump ring under largest diamond.Opal shows minor surface blemishes/scuffs under x10 loupe. But no obvious cracks/chips.
A large multi-cluster gemset ring. Multi-coloured cabochon tourmalines and a double halo of diamonds surround the central oval cabochon opal: gem weights, opal 1.45 ct, tourmaline 7.20ct, and diamonds 0.50ct. The setting is unhallmarked and assessed as continental silver. Ring size N. Weight 8.22 grams.
