A late Victorian opal and diamond set brooch of openwork heart design, the central oval opal cabochon in a surround of circular cut diamond within an openwork diamond set heart framework mounted in silver and gold, with detachable pin fitting, 2.5cm high, weight 4.9gms. Condition Report The opal has an attractive play of multi-colours, including orange, green and violet, the opal is in good condition, the diamonds slightly draw colour and have one or two internal inclusions, there is some variation of cut to the diamonds, originally there would have been a detachable diamond set suspension loop, which is missing, the detachable brooch fitting is rather stiff to unscrew and does not screw down as far as it should. Size of pendant 20.9mm x 25.1mm.The setting is gold backed and silver fronted, overall condition is good, would benefit from professional cleaning.
A white gold, opal and diamond set oval cluster ring, collet set with the oval opal at the centre, in a surround of circular cut diamonds, detailed 585, ring size M and a half, gross weight 4 gms. Condition Report The opal has one or two fine surface marks, the play of colour shows green, orange and violet tones. The surrounding diamonds look to be attractive white stones. The ring has probably been sized at the back of the shank in the past. Overall good condition.
A precious yellow metal opal and diamond-set dress ring, the precious opal claw-set to a surround of circular cut diamonds; and a pair of opal doublet ear clips set in 14ct gold (2) Condition Report The ring: dimensions of opal: 19.5mm x 13.4mm. Dimensions of top of ring: 22.8mm x 17.5mm. The opal has one or two tiny surface marks but does not appear to have any significant dehydration cracks. The opal has an attractive play of colour principally shades of green and blue but lacks oranges and reds. The surrounding diamonds look to be fairly white stones with one or two internal inclusions, one diamond looks to be badly chipped. The ring however, is rather dirty and it is difficult to examine the diamonds closely. The shank of the ring is bound with plastic wire and it is not possible to measure the size of the ring or to see if there are any hallmarks. The ear clips: The backs of the ear clips are marked 14K above 22K and further marked possibly reading 'SHAW'. Marks are more clear on one ear clip than the other. Clip fittings are in good condition, the springs are working properly. The opals are of similar colouring to the ring with strength of colours in shades of blue and green. It has not been possible to examine the edges of the opals due to the settings. Opals have one or two tiny insignificant surface marks, the opals are not of identical shape. Otherwise good condition.
