[§] ERIK MAGNUSSEN (1884-1960) AN OPAL AND SAPPHIRE SET PENDANT, CIRCA 1918 modelled as a stylised butterfly, the body set with an opal and two sapphire cabochon eyes, to an integral fancy link chain and toggle clasp, stamped EM/ 750/ 1918 to reverse Length of pendant: 50mm Note: Mainly self-taught, Erik Magnussen originated from Denmark, where he developed his characteristic techniques and designs using naturalistic motifs. Beginning his career at his uncle's gallery 'Winkel and Magnussen', he was influenced by H.C. Viggo-Hansen where he developed his chasing skills, and from the sculptor Stephan Sinding. One of his first major successes was the sale of his 'Grasshopper' brooch to the Museum of Decorative Art in 1907, and the current lot is thought to be from this period.

Edwardian 18ct gold opal and diamond ring, the three oval cabochon opals interspaced by four old cut diamonds, in carved gold scroll setting (Birmingham 1901). Ring size O CONDITION REPORT The opals are all well matched and appear original to the ring. The opals are lively stones, displaying pink, green and blue tones. No chips or abrasions, surface in good condition with only very minor surface wear commensurate with age. Largest opal measures approximately 8mm x 6mm x 2.4mm. The two smaller stones measure approximately 5.8mm x 4.8mm x 1.75mm. Setting and shank in very good condition. Full set of clear hallmarks. Original inscription to inside of shank which reads 'M.A.B.B. July 5th 1902' and 'W.B. June 8th 1902'. Total gross weight approximately 4.4 grams

Rose cut diamonds graduate from approximately 1.2mm to 2mm diameter. No damage or repairs. Total gross weight approximately 5.9 grams

Rubies measure approximately 2.5mm x 1.6mm - 3.5mm x 1.8mm. One ruby has been reglued into setting back to front. The jump rings/connecting links around the settings to the rubies have a few spots of solder. Total gross weight approximately 4 grams. Length of knife bar links approximately 92mm. Overall length of necklace approximately 390mm. No obvious damage or repairs
