A 9 ct yellow gold opal ring, size P. CONDITION REPORT: All of the opals are slightly misty due to old surface abrasions. Small scratches are visible with the aid of a magnifier. The centre stone is the worst affected. The real problem however is that one of the middle size stones has a crack from left to right which probably runs through the opal entirely. The ring has an enclosed back so we cannot see if this is the case.
A two tone gold coloured metal starburst brooch, with central turquoise and interspersed diamond set rays, unmarked (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: 8.5g, diameter 3 cm the diamonds appear reasonably bright to us. We cannot really comment on the clarity. Diamonds appear dirty and the brooch in our opinion requires a good clean. Yet in our opinion the metal is gold. The brooch is of good quality and well finished at the rear. The opal is in good order as are all of the mounts. We cannot see any condition issues other than the dirt already mentioned.
