A J J Mathewson White Opaline Glass Viewer, circa 1860, of ovoid shape with conical neck to a lens, internally with four colour lithographic views of the Thames Tunnel, Wapping, revolving by twisting two white glass side buttons, the scenes comprising two views of the Thames Tunnel, a view of the River Thames, with tunnel under, and an interior of the Crystal Palace, inscribed "The Opal Views are manufactured by J J Mathewson, Nos 4, 21, 51 and 59 Thames Tunnel and will always preserve their colour in any climate", {13cm high}.
