A Black Opal Necklace, an oval black opal in a milgrain setting suspends a larger black opal by a tapering pierced bar, on a fine trace chain, drop length 5cm, chain length 42.5cm see illustration The necklace is in good condition. It is stamped '9CT' and with mark's mark 'W.N' and in our opinion would test as gold. The opals measure 10.8mm x 7.20mm and 15.00mm x 12.00mm approximately. Gross weight 4.4 grams. An 18 Carat Gold Opal Ruby and Diamond Cluster Ring, a circular top inset with five pear cut opals, spaced by round cut rubies and old cut diamond accents, to forked shoulders, finger size L1/2 see illustration The ring is in good condition. Two of the opals have very small chips and the opals in general have light surface wear. It is hallmarked Birmingham, 1902. The marker's mark is worn. Gross weight 3.6 grams. Condition Report made 13th July 2017.
An 18 Carat Gold Opal and Diamond Cluster Pendant, an oval cabochon opal in a milgrain closed back setting within a border of round brilliant cut diamonds, total estimated diamond weight 1.20 carat approximately, measures 2.7cm by 2cm see illustration There are two internal fractures noted to the opal which can be observed slightly breaking the surface. The closed back setting prevents checking if the fracture continues to the reverse. It is hallmarked with sponsor's mark 'OK', London, 1983. The reverse has gold bar loops for threading throughout a cord for use as a necklace. The opal measures 18.80mm x 14.00mm. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I, clarity VS2/SI1. Gross weight 6.4 grams. Condition Report made 29th September 2017.
A Black Opal and Diamond Cluster Ring, an oval cabochon balck opal within a border of eight-cut diamonds in milgrain settings, total estimated diamond weight 0.50 carat approximately, finger size J see illustration The ring is in good to fair condition. The opal is abraided giving a matt appearance. The milgrain settings to two of the diamonds have worn slightly flat. It is stamped 'PLAT' and in our opinion would test as platinum. The opal measures 5.5mm x 4.5mm x 2.3mm approximately. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I, clarity VS2/SI1. Gross weight 2.8 grams. Condition Report made 29th September 2017.
