A Victorian silver gilt chalice, the bowl engraved with a geometric band above a knop stem and flared circular foot, London 1874, the stem later fitted with an opal and diamond five stone ring, together with a silver paten engraved with a scrolling band, London 1875, and a silver pyx, London 1956.
A late Victorian gold opal and diamond set oval hinged bangle, the front mounted with a row of eleven circular opals graduating in size to the centre alternating with pairs of cushion shaped diamond set points, the mount decorated with scroll pierced sides detailed `18ct`, presentation inscribed, on a snap-clasp with a safety chain, interior width approx 5.6cm.
A Victorian opal and diamond flower head brooch, c.1890, a circular cabochon opal, claw set to the centre, surrounded by a layer of petals, grain set with rose cut diamonds, and with an outer row of petals set with pairs of cabochon opals. Later brooch fitting in a fixed position. Marked 18 CONDITION REPORT: Original detachable brooch fitting deficient. Bale deficient. Good play of colour to the opals.
An Edwardian single row graduated opal bead necklace, with faceted paste spacers. The beads 4.4-12.0mm in size, strung to a plain barrel clasp CONDITION REPORT: 510mm in length. The spacers are all present bar the last three at each side of the clasp, as they are knotted at these points. Some marks to the surface of some opal beads, some with surface reaching fissures. Dirty. Strung too tight, and requires re-stringing. Some opal beads milky and not showing a play of colour.
A gold, opal, diamond and pearl plique-à-jour pendant, c.1900, a pavé set diamond swallow with Mississippi pearl wings, with gold chain attached to each tip. A diamond set bar, articulated below, with a trefoil cluster of old European cut diamonds to a diamond set scroll surround. Graduated rose cut diamonds leading to a blue/green plique-à-jour enamel spider's web, with a flower head or four-leaved clover, composed of pear shaped cabochon opals to an old European cut diamond, claw set to the centre, with sets of rub set diamonds to the tips. The chain with indistinct marks, possibly Swiss. A case by Boodle & Dunthorne, Lord St., Liverpool
A cased black opal and diamond brooch/pendant, c.1900, an oval cabochon black opal, claw set to a frame of old Swiss cut and old eight cut diamonds. In silver cut down collets to a gold scalloped gallery. A detachable pendant drop with a pair of laurel leaves and scalloped cap, all set with diamonds to an articulated opal pippin drop. A diamond set detachable bale and detachable brooch fitting. Fitted case by George Roe, 22 King St., St. James's, S.W. CONDITION REPORT: Total length: 45mm. Opal: 14.2mm x 9.25mm x 5mm.
A pair of cased black opal and diamond drop earrings, early 20th century, each earring composed of a hook fitting, with an old European cut diamond, milligrain set to the front. A trace chain drop to an oval cabochon black opal, surrounded by old eight cut diamonds, all milligrain set in white to a yellow gallery. Case by Page, Kean and Page, Plymouth CONDITION REPORT: 23mm long, from the top of the wire. Requires cleaning. No obvious damage/repair. Both opals bright with a good polish. Settings appear secure.
An Art Deco black opal and diamond plaque ring, an oval cabochon black opal, four claw set to the centre, with an arched frame of graduated old brilliant cut and eight cut diamonds, with baguette cut diamonds at the sides and shoulders. Tested as platinum. Ring case by Sanford Bros., Jewellers, 8 Holborn Bars, EC1. Finger size L CONDITION REPORT: Shank a little worn at the back. Obus cut diamond at one shoulder chipped. The black opal shows a good range of colours with a large red flash. Lots of surface wear and scratches with areas of natural indentations present when the stone was polished. 12.70mm x 7.50mm x 3.69mm (NB the depth is including the matrix). There is a layer of potch below the black opal layer. This layer is uneven and irregular, showing through the table surface of the stone in places, but at the girdle absent in others. Not hallmarked or dated in any way - from the style, stones and construction Art Deco in period, probably circa 1930. Probably the original box, but we cannot be sure.
A late 19th Century Loetz Federzeichnung or octopus vase of footed ovoid form with flared collar neck, cased in clear crystal over cinnamon over opal, internally decorated with a scrolling air trap line over decorated with enamelled and gilded flowers and foliage, marked Pat 9159 to the base, height 22cm.
