An opal and diamond ring, the oval opal set to either side with an old round brilliant cut diamond, total weight of diamonds estimated approx. 0.60cts, all claw mounted to a plain band stamped '18', size Q, 2.9gLight wear throughout, more so to lower half of band. Under x10 loupe opal mildly abraded, consistent with age & wear, but barely noticeable by eye. Diamonds bright but would definitely benefit from a thorough clean.
Late Victorian opal and diamond cluster ring with a navette shape cabochon opal surrounded by a border of sixteen old cut diamonds in gold claw setting on tapered 18ct gold shank. Ring size J½.In excellent, original condition. Stamped '18ct' but not hallmarked. Diamonds are all well matched, lively, bright stones. A few stones have minor chips and surface reaching inclusions, but generally good clarity. One claw that secures the opal is partially missing and there is a minute chip to the edge of the opal at this point, not visible to the naked eye. The opal is a lively stone with a good play of colour, displaying greens, pinks and blues. The ring would appear to have very little signs of wear. Weighs 1.8 grams.
